Blurred Boundaries Graduate Studio Explorations Using graphite and other mixed media, I was tasked to delineate certain characteristics of a dragon fruit. By boiling the exterior skin emerged a fascination with how the texture of the skin changed in texture. This led to the exploration of blurred boundaries of erasure, smudging, and mix use of media to create arbitrary-driven drawings which convey the subtle differences of how the eye perceives something. Skills/Resources Used: - Hand rendering - Graphite, Rendering Markers, Pencil, and Erasure

Northeast Eatery Minneapolis, Minnesota

Building upon the blurred boundaries discovered during the beginning of my first graduate architecture studio, this eatery is meant to blur the lines between the site and what an eatery is. Taking inspiration from physical and implied cues of the surrounding buildings, the site is comprised of glass, granite, or water walls in varying scales to provoke a sense of curiosity and encourage users to interact not only with the building but also with the site. Skills/Resources Used: -Varying Lineweights -T-Square -Pens -Adobe Photoshop -Rhino

Healing Lotus Center

The goal of this Team Project was to come up with new ways of thinking about what a prison could be. Our small women’s prison would be set in a dense, urban setting and would focus on those who have drug addiction + mental health illnesses. Our design was centered around a lotus root because it fit with the three main goals we wished to focus on: 1. Creating Small Communities that could come together as one (much like the small clusters of holes found in the root). 2. Access to Nature. There is a generous amount of nature spaces for residents or inmates to walk among the buildings and reflect on life choices (Lotus Root is a natural, earthy vegetable). 3. Decision to Make Their Own Choices. Residents have the choice to decide if they would like more work time or more time spent in therapy. Choices are lacking in current prisons and this is detrimental to resident’s wellbeing. (A lotus root has many layers and the small holes are arbitrarily placed). Skills/Resources Used: -Laser Cutter -SketchUp -Autodesk Revit -Rip+Tear Models to understand the Layout, Size, Required Furniture, and Human Scale of Different Spaces in Prisons

HCMC Primary Care Clinic Minneapolis, Minnesota This is my Interior Design Senior Thesis Project. The main driver of this project for Hennepin County Medical Center’s (HCMC) Downtown Minneapolis Primary Care Clinic was a concept based on the changing opacity of the Mississippi River. Rooms where more privacy is needed, such as exam rooms and employee workstations, the materials and building elements used were more opaque and richer in colors and materials. Rooms where privacy isn’t the main focus, lighter and more translucent materials and fixtures. Skills/Resources Used: - IBC 2012 Code Requirements -Autodesk Revit - Adobe Creative Suite: -Photoshop -Illustrator -InDesign -Research Handbook on HCMC and Medical Procedures -Construction Document Examples to Execute an Accurate Full Set of CD’s

Lagkageskolen Charlotte Amalies Bastion Copenhagen, Denmark Lakageskolen (School of Layered Cakes) is a flexible space that is designed as both a cafe and cooking school located in an old historical arms bastion in the upper east part of Copenhagen, Denmark. Children and adults can enjoy the warm and “Hygge-like (cozy) feel of the space through the intimate seating and lighting. Skills/Resources Used: -Adobe Creative Suite: Illustrator Photoshop -Scaled Metric Drawings -Autodesk Revit + AutoCAD

Larsen Condo

Boston, Massachusetts

Jay and Laurie Larsen are a couple looking for a two bedroom apartment in the South End of Boston. They are both hard-workers who want a space where they can relax in and one that showcases the earnest nature of Boston. This apartment utilizes the materials found in the historical neighborhoods such as reclaimed wooden floors, marble countertops, and exposed brick walls. This project was completed using only drafting pencils and tools during my first Interior Design Studio. Skills/Resources Used: -Hand Drafting -Scaled Drawings Utilizing Poche Techniques -Detailing Materials -Precedent Studies from Historical Boston Row houses and Apartments

Free Hand Renderings These images are all representation of different hand rendering techniques, for example, two-point perspective and one-point perspective. Materials used include charcoal, alcohol based pen, pencil, and more. Skills/Resources Used: -Graphite Pencils -Rendering Markers -Pens
