FRANK LLOYD WRIGHT MUSEUM FALL 2013 CLIENT: Wisconsin Historical Society, Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation, & De-Sign21 DESIGNER(S): Ashley Johnson & Rachel Eggert LOCATION: Milwaukee, WI SIZE: 43,000 sq. ft.
Note: My partner Rachel and I collaborated on every component of this design process equally.
HAND-CRAFTED MODEL OF MUSEUM
PROJECT DESCRIPTION Design a museum showcasing a selected collection of Frank Lloyd Wright’s work. CONCEPT STATEMENT When walking along the shores of Lake Michigan one will observe a community that is biking, running and in particular flying kites. The concept for Frank Lloyd Wright’s museum in Milwaukee, Wisconsin is inspired by the kite’s geometrical shape. From this kite shape the exterior shell is formed and creates a foundation of an open concept for the interior.

CONCEPT STATEMENT The inspirations for “Cork,” the modern retail wine bar located in Minneapolis, Minnesota, are the bold colored grapes and curvilinear vines. IDENTITY DEVELOPMENT
THE VALISE-BOUTIQUE HOTEL FALL 2011 CLIENT: Klimpton’s Group DESIGNER(s): Ashley Johnson LOCATION: Cincinnati, OH SIZE: 3,130 sq. ft.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION Design a boutique hotel that merges contemporary design with 19th century charm. CONCEPT STATEMENT The design of the Valise Boutique Hotel merges both historical and contemporary elements. Keeping in mind the historical ambiance of the hotel, a contemporary style was combined to create a transitional alteration. The valise is a term for a small piece of luggage or overnight traveling case. This type of luggage was used during the 1920s and continues to be used today. The identity of this hotel is incorporated with the valise as a symbol for a portable memory, kept after traveling to this wonderful boutique hotel.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Design a home for the Frangipani family that incorporates their Italian heritage while staying ADA accessible.
CONCEPT STATEMENT
The ambition of this design was to create a Frangipani residence that met all of the needs and wants of each family member, while incorporating a Tuscan design theme. The home accomplishes this with lowered counter heights, arched windows, warm colors, and Tuscan aesthetics throughout. The open floor plan reflects the perfect area for a family to stay connected and enjoy each other’s company. Altogether, this home creates an inviting atmosphere with the added element of bringing in the family’s culture and heritage.
