FLOOR PLAN DEVELOPMENT While developing the floor plan, the main focus was creating spaces that could be individual and connected in some way. The different plans show how a user could experience the displays while walking through the space or individually.

This rendering shows both daylight from the windows and all the artificial light turned on. With the natural light and main light fixture, it becomes brighter and true to the colors in the space. The Sherwin Williams Waterloo and Dover White paint, with a gloss finish, reads cooler with the daylight added along with the artificial lights. It is brighter and feels more open and airy.
This rendering shows the space with only the artificial light turned on. The main lights and floor lamps shine a warmer light making the space look inviting and have a yellowish color. The lighter furniture and grey carpet tile becomes warmer. The Sherwin Williams Waterloo paint, with floss finish, reads greyer and washes out from the warm light of the floor lamp and ceiling fixture. The overall space becomes darker and more monotone.

Appendix The following appendices include miscellaneous work I have done over the past four years. They include projects utilizing Revit, AutoCAD, Illustrator, and Photoshop as well as hand sketches and laser cut 3D models. Additionally, projects are included that I completed during my two-year internship with Ross & Baruzzini, an international Architectural and Engineering firm.

INTERNSHIP AT ROSS & BARUZZINI Over the past 2 years I have been working as a design intern at Ross & Baruzzini. I have worked on multiple projects including the Nellis AFB Hospital Renovation, Essentia Health Vision Northland Hospital, Aspen City’s New Office Building, and Children’s Hospital Colorado North Campus. Using Revit I have coordinated the technology system devices with the architect and MEP team. I have laid out cable tray around the mechanical ducting in the ceiling space to import to Navisworks for Clash Detection. For the Nellis project, I have also managed the government’s initial outfitting of the PCs, printers, phones, and other technology devices by creating and placing 3D families in the Revit model and managing appropriate parameters. I have also used AutoCAD to draw technology rack elevations and system schematics.

NORTON SATELLITE CAMPUS This new satellite campus is a collaborative space for students to utilize. It is a stimulating environment that encourages learning and creativity. The bright colors and ergonomic furniture help the user focus and be stimulated. The project was inspired by a trip to Amsterdam while walking through a tulip field. It showcases an open design with vibrancy.

LIBRARY RESEARCH High Point University desired to build a new library that will meet the needs of the growing undergraduate and graduate programs. I helped to create a program for the new space, which included completing research on a variety of topics. I conducted interviews and preference surveys with various High Point University librarians, staff, faculty, and students to gain insight from their opinions, knowledge, and experience. All of this research was used to create final prototypes, design ideas, and layouts for the client to use for inspiration for the current and future library.
I participated in an experiential case study where I visited Hunt Library at North Carolina State and observed the different environments and how they functioned, as well as researched various libraries and successful learning commons around the world.

I completed observational research in the form of traffic mapping to create a diagram of the most common routes taken in the current library.

Main insights gained from the interviews: • Incorporate school’s history and keep traditional feel while bringing in new appealing design • Focus on creativity, innovation, and technology • Offer flexible and versatile spaces
