April 28, 2015 WUCF 12461 Research Parkway Suite 550 Orlando, FL 32826 Dear ONE Producers: The cold air escapes as the door opens. The soft hush of a quiet street, the aroma of fresh, organic wine, and the beautiful decor materializes as the door closes with a gentle thud. Welcoming voices echo softly in the distance and right away the elegance of the winery can be sensed. The delicate light overhead illuminates the artwork and casts a soft shimmer that bounces elegantly off the wine tabs. As guests wander inside, another beautiful day begins at Quantum Leap Winery. It’s not everyday that you hear of a winery that’s sustainable, whimsically unique, and dedicated to helping animals around Central Florida. Quantum Leap Winery is based right here in the heart of Orland, and it’s the first winery of it’s kind in the state of Florida. Their sustainable winemaking process involves importing grape juices from all over the world, blending and then bottling them to create their very own line of unique wines. This process eliminates much of the waste associated with the traditional winemaking process, leaving a wine that is both delicious and better for the environment. We think the story about Quantum Leap Winery would be an excellent fit for your show ONE: Central Florida. Their engaging story not only educates your viewers about wine, but also shows the possibilities for wines to be environmentally friendly as well as delicious. This local business also donates a portion of the sales from their two signature wines, Kaley’s Rescue Red and Panther’s Tale Red blend, to benefit the Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando. These donations will go toward helping pets in the greater Orlando area that need homes and medical attention. We’re offering the story of Quantum Leap Winery exclusively to ONE: Central Florida to use for a feature. Quantum Leap can share their winemaking expertise and history with your show. We can ensure that the winery will provide an exclusive publicity tour, which will include access to watch the wine bottling process firsthand, as well as interviews with key staff members. We’ll also be available to offer any resources you may need to help make this feature possible. We’ll contact you Monday, May 11, to see how we may be of further assistance on a feature about Quantum Leap Winery. Thank you for your time and consideration. Sincerely,
Blake Anderson, June Erb, Katie Raponi and Ashlynn Webb

In 2012, Jill Ramsier and David Forrester founded Quantum Leap Winery. It’s the first and only sustainable urban winery in Florida. Quantum Leap is founded with a focus on creating a large-scale impact on green initiatives. Quantum Leap Winery’s business model is focused around finding an environmentally friendly solution for the wine-tomarket process. Their core values include finding an environmentally safe way to transport wine globally and reducing the carbon footprint associated with the winemaking process. To do so, they search for good quality, sustainably grown wine and transport it to their facility to be finished, stored and packaged, instead of shipping the finished product for sale. The wines are packaged in kegs, pouches or boxes that contain a low carbon footprint to reduce the effects of the transportation and disposal process on the environment.!! ! Matt Uva Tasting Room Manager/Brand Ambassador Quantum Leap Winery 407-730-3082 muva@quantumleapwinery.com It all began with a bottle of wine for Matt Uva. Not just any bottle of wine, a 1982 bottle of Cheval Blanc that he received as a high school graduation gift. Today, this bottle of wine is worth about $8,000. It’s a shame that Uva drank it behind a grammar school with a friend after they popped the cork with a Swiss Army knife. Thankfully, all was not lost, as this particular bottle of wine is what led him to become a valued employee at one of the most innovative and eco-friendly wineries in the state. As the tasting room manager and brand ambassador of Quantum Leap, no one knows the inner workings of the winery better than him. Between developing a method for ordering crushed grapes and purchasing bottles with thinner glass, Uva does everything he can to be environmentally conscious. In fact, Uva says, “Besides drinking at 9 a.m., my favorite part of working here is reducing our carbon footprint in, what I like to call, the vineyard-to-table process.” During his time with Quantum Leap, Uva’s seen and participated in many changes to the wine industry. Quantum Leap’s team is constantly creating new tools and methods to make certain winemaking processes, like topping-off and fermenting, easier. Uva’s biggest project is expanding the wine-on-tap concept by utilizing wine kegs, which, in turn, further reduces the carbon footprint of their wine’s life cycle. Born and raised in the Northeast, Uva found his way down to Florida just like any other young man following his heart, chasing a girl. Luckily, his 15 years of experience in the wine industry helped him land his job at Quantum Leap. Uva feels wine is his real passion, but outside of work, he enjoys urban gardening, biking, and, as you can tell in his candid photo above, vintage suits. He’s an “all around enthusiastic, energetic, wine loving fool,” according to Norm Saley. Uva sees Quantum Leap expanding in the upcoming years and potentially opening new locations. With a lasting impact on the environment, Uva will continue to spread his knowledge to the community and add on to his 15 years of experience in the wine industry.

Norm Saley Operations Manager/ Assistant Winemaker Quantum Leap Winery 407-730-3082 nsaley@quantumleapwinery.com Some people find jobs by filling out an application, sitting down for an interview, or even reaching out to an old connection, but Norm Saley’s method was a little different. He had his mother slide his resume under the door, along with the mail she delivers daily, at Quantum Leap Winery. Saley holds the title of assistant winemaker and operations manager at Quantum Leap. This means he supports the head winemakers and develops new ideas and initiatives to make the winemaking process easier. These tasks include anything from custom made ‘topping-off’ machines, maintaining current standards, and bringing any new green ideas to Quantum Leap. Quantum Leap’s focus on being environmentally friendly drives the passion behind Saley’s operations. “He does everything that no one else does pretty much,” said Matt Uva, Quantum Leap’s tasting room manager and brand ambassador. The reason Saley enjoys the winemaking process at Quantum Leap is because of the chemical element. At Quantum Leap, he has the freedom to experiment with new wines and new methods to make them. Many of the new wines Quantum Leap creates are due to experimental accidents or simple curiosity. Saley utilizes this freedom to find greener and more innovative methods for every step of the winemaking process. After spending time in the Navy, Saley discovered his passion for winemaking when he was living in California. He always wanted to make it back to his extended family in Orlando, though. After a call from Quantum Leap, Saley made the 3,000 mile drive from California to Orlando to begin working at one of the Florida’s most innovative wineries. According to Saley, his favorite part of working at Quantum Leap is “enjoying the fruit of my labor, literally” and “being able to work with wines from several different regions, instead of the same grapes from the same appellations.” Saley has a true passion for wine but in his time away from the winery, he enjoys building custom bikes, spending time with family, and visiting the beautiful Florida beaches. When asked to describe Saley in one word, Uva said it would be “Rock-star.”
Kaley Best dog ever Hi, I’m Kaley. My mom Jill, the owner of Quantum Leap, rescued me and I’ve been her best friend ever since. Before Jill, life wasn’t so great for me. Although I had a loving foster mom, it just didn’t feel like home. It turns out, I had heartworms and a hernia! Talk about a ruff time! While I was waiting for my forever home, my foster mom called me Camry. She said she gave all her foster pups car names so she wouldn’t get too attached to us. That made me really sad. All I wanted was a mom that would love me and give me a forever home. One day, Jill saw my picture on the Internet and came over to meet me in person. Oh boy, was I excited to see her! It was love at first sight for both of us. Now, I go to work with mom every day. I love being at Quantum Leap because the other humans who work with mom bring in their doggies and we all play together. Since I’m like a hundred in dog years, my mom thought that I could use a friend, so she rescued a young pup named Ollie for me to play with. In the two years he’s been with us I’ve taught him all about how to be the best dog ever, like me! He’s learned that we don’t jump on the new people when they walk through the door, and that we should stay off the couches. Personally, I don’t think he listens very well. He still barks at people when they come through the door and sometimes he tries to chase the delivery man. It’s taken a while but I think he’ll learn. Just like a good bottle of wine, everything gets better with time. Mom’s a real animal lover and she feels it’s important to have a stake in the community for all pet owners. That’s why she named her first red blend wine after me, and now it’s the signature wine of Quantum Leap. It’s called, Kaley’s Rescue Red. I don’t know too many doggies out there with a wine named after them, but I can tell you it’s pretty neat! Every time someone comes in to Quantum Leap, I just love to go up to them and give them a nice, warm welcome. I think what mom and her team do here at Quantum Leap is really great! Not only do they make really good wine, they also give back to the community to help other pups just like me. A portion of all the sales from my wine goes to Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando. Now that’s what I call a win-win!

Taste the difference of some dog-gone good wine. Quantum Leap Winery takes us behind the scenes of Florida’s only sustainable winery, right here in the heart of this beautiful City. ! ! The winemaking process at Quantum Leap is ! nothing short of extraordinary. The process is centered ! around reducing pollution and being more eco-friendly. ! After ordering crushed grapes from abroad, the juices are sent over in special shipping containers that reduce the environmental impact associated with traditional shipping methods. After the wines have fermented, they are poured into special wine bottles with thinner glass to reduce the waste associated with the wine-to-table process.
! Quantum Leap uses unique plastic shipping containers to transport crushed grape juices to their facility from around the globe. These special containers can be used more than once, reducing their carbon footprint. Once these container are deemed unusable, they are sent with wine shipments to Tampa to be recycled.
The wine barrels at Quantum Leap are like a beautiful bloodline building the framework of the winery. Each handcrafted barrel holds a secret and a story all of it’s own. They house signature wines that are created with special care and an extra ounce of love. When it’s time, the barrels will be opened so that the highly anticipated wines can be bottled, packaged, and sold to the eager guests waiting to take the first succulent sip.
Quantum Leap offers many signature wines, three of which are, Kaley’s Rescue Red, Panther’s Tale and My Best Friend. All of these wines are named after the pets that were rescued by Quantum Leap employees. A portion of every sale from these wines goes to benefit the Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando. These donations will go toward helping pets in the area that need homes, medical attention and a little extra TLC.

A unique concept that Quantum Leap has implemented is wine on tap. Like beer, wine can now be stored in kegs and poured from a tap. Each keg holds the equivalent of 26 bottles of wine without producing any of the waste from physical bottles. Because the wine in kegs never goes bad, it eliminates the waste that comes from oxidized bottles. Quantum Leap has an elegant stainless steel tap system in their tasting room, as seen here.
!
The different pieces of artwork adorning the walls of Quantum Leap could only be described as eclectic and whimsical. Each unique piece adds to the stylish design and warm, welcoming vibe that Quantum Leap represents. A great glass of wine in a chic, urban atmosphere? Yes, please.
