Oxford Wingtip Shoes: Suitable For Casual Wear Oxford Wingtip Shoes was initially designed for the wet bogs in Scotland and Ireland and were then made of very heavy leather and the perforations were meant to help the passage of water from the inside of the shoe. However, today's wingtips have made appearances as boots, sneakers and lace-ups may even be available in two tones for those people who prefer such looks in shoes. The material, which is used in such shoes, has progressed from just leather to other suede, calf, kid, pig, exotic skins, canvas and synthetics. Oxford Wingtip and two tone Shoes has a pointed toe-cap with extensions or wings that run on both sides of the toe and get terminated near the ball of the foot. When this boot is perceived visually from the toe cap, it will appear like a bird which has extended its wings into a W shape. This is what has provided this boot the name ‘wingtip’. You will come to know that such toe caps can be perforated whereas others may show no perforations at all. In fact some are even plain and do not indicate W in any way. Many shoes have toe-caps and counters reinforced as these are the parts which take most of the abuse when shoes are used. The counter is the rear part of the shoe which protects the heel of the wearer just as the toe-cap will protect the toes. Both these parts are usually reinforced for extra protection and prevent wear and tear. Wingtip Shoes are tremendously favored by cowboys and can be brogue. Broguing is a wellknown feature for dress shoes meant for men and was chiefly meant to allow rain water to run off from the shoes. At present, it is more of a decorative feature and the holes never extend through the material. These shoes are considered suitable for more casual wear and are scarcely considered good for wearing on formal occasions. There has been a fashion to blend this style with classic oxfords so that it makes for a contemporary look. When we use the term Oxford, here we are referring to a lace up boot. Oxford Wingtip Shoes is best if it has leather lining which makes sure the boot to breathe and takes away the dampness, so it keeps the foot dry and cool. It also has a leather in-sole that fits as if it has been custom made for the wearer.
