Nivedita Roy Cleopatra

O Queen of Nile Self-anointed goddess divine,

You remain an enigma Unpopular though for your charisma,

Mysteriously beautiful or were you dutiful? Who could reveal what turmoil stirred within? As you fought for the throne, Did you stifle a regretful moan?

Plotting for power, scheming the murder Could it be no love lost or you lost love for Caesar and Antony?

A woman with slender support and options History whispers titles unbecoming of your actions

Infamous thou art as an enchanting seductress Antithetical is the belief that you were a scholar indeed

The asp would have spared its vicious sting If the tides were favourable for you that spring

The chroniclers would have presented you in a different armour, Would you have lived up to the text of your name…Cleopatrathe glory of her father?
