NEW ERA Powerscourt Distillery has launched its brand new release, the estate distilled Fercullen Falls blended Irish whiskey
P
owerscourt Distillery has introduced its first blend with whiskey distilled on-site at Powerscourt. Fercullen Falls is a blend of malt and grain whiskeys, with a high malt content highlighting the unique style of the Powerscourt Distillery. The malt whiskey has matured in first-fill ex-bourbon barrels
and the grain in a combination of ex-bourbon and new heavy char oak casks, making it a 50/50 blend. The brand name Fercullen is the anglicised name for “FeraCulann”, the Gaelic name given to the ancient and strategically important lands that surround and encompass Powerscourt Estate. Literally translated, it stands for “Men of Cuala” or “Men of the Wicklow Mountains” and it's fitting that "OCualann", the Irish name for the Sugarloaf Mountain, the key identifier of this location, is celebrated in the Fercullen Whiskey logo.
