MESSAGE FROM THE
MANAGING DIRECTOR NATIONAL PLOUGHING CHAMPIONSHIPS
It is an absolute honour to welcome you to the new site of the National Ploughing Championships here in Ballintrane, Fenagh, Co Carlow. This year we are celebrating our 88th year and I would like to take this opportunity to thank you the patrons most warmly for all of your continued loyal support. The site is in good condition and ready for the hundreds of thousands of visitors expected over the coming days. Once again, we will witness the elite of Irish Ploughing taking to the field in the spirit of friendship and competition. Hundreds of acres will be superbly ploughed as 300 entrants from all around the country and Northern Ireland will be competing throughout the 3 days. I’d like to thank the Nolan, Quirke and Brennan families and all of the surrounding landowners for putting their land at the disposal of the National Ploughing Association and also for their dedicated commitment and involvement during this time. Their assistance & support along with the backing of an Garda Siochana, Carlow County Council and local residents has been a huge boost to the event, and I am very grateful to all for their collaboration. As always, the local community and volunteerism play a vital role in the hosting of the National Ploughing Championships. With hundreds of staff and volunteers giving their time and energy so eagerly again this year, I am sure 2019 will prove to be one of the most successful years to date. The Championships with over 1,700 exhibitors, is no longer an affair solely for ploughing and machinery enthusiasts. This year sees an array of new exhibitors as well as hundreds of outstanding veteran companies, who have loyally supported Ploughing throughout the years, showcasing their products and services in dynamic, entertaining ways for all to enjoy.
