REAR ELEVATION
LE G E SL AT I VE ASSE M BLY Completed in 1952, the Secretariat building functions as the headquarters of the Punjab and Haryana municipal governments and is the largest of Corbusier’s three completed administrative buildings. The building has notable similarities with Corbusier’s Marseille block and had an equally lofty goal: to revolutionize the modern office building.
Propose works for Secretariat includes – Removing all encroachments from facade i.e. blocking of balconies – Entrance canopies to be removed, public entrances diverted and areas redesigned as entrance lobbies – Toilets on all floors to be redesigned and historic material palette to be used i.e terrazzo for flooring – In both ramps flooring to be restored and new railing to be provided where necessary – Comprehensive design of HVAC for entire building and execution for removal of units on the facades – Facade Illumination and comprehensive signage design for the entire building FRONT FACADE OF THE SECARATARIAT BTUILDING WITH ADHOC ADDITIONS LIKE WINDOWS, AIR CONDITIONING UNITS, DRYWALLS
FRONT FACADE OF LEGESLATIVE ASSEMBLY, CAPITOL COMPLEX
The conceptual center of The Capitol, The Assembly has two chambers, originally built for the ‘Upper’ and ‘Lower’ houses, now housing the legislatures of Punjab and Haryana, respectively. Corbusier’s edifice retains some of its pristine majesty, but it is under constant threat of abusive tinkering by its insensitive users who are altering its facade with impunity.
CURRENT ISSUES
SCOPE OF CONSERVATION WORKS – Restoration of acoustic panels in Punjab assembly – Restoration of Tapestry, Furniture and incongruous Flooring – Proposed Zoning to remove adhoc interventions (shuffling Punjab- Haryana Zones) – Removal of outdoor HVAC units from the facades – Restoration of member’s lounge (Punjab & Haryana), entrance lobbies and toilets – Restoration of Press Lounge – Proposed new signages for the offices and assembly halls
Air conditioning units and services running through the facade

The Moorish Mosque also known as Jama Masjid locally is a grand mosque in Kapurthala, India. Built in 1930 by a French architect Manteaux, its design resembles that of the great Qutubiya mosque, at Marakesh in Morocco. The comprehensive project included the exterior, interior and landscape works as well as signage and interpretation for the site. It was my first project assigned as an Architect, I was assigned to assist senior architect to prepare scope of work for restoration and overlook the execution stage by myself. As it was a live mosque so the construction works are carried out in a phased way.

POTTERY S TUD I O AT BI K A NER H OUS E N E W D E LH I , I N D I A
Bikaner House is a colonial residence on 8 acres in Lutyen’s Delhi zone designed by Architect Charles G. Blomfield, currently used as an event venue and offices for the Rajasthan government. A pottery studio was proposed to promote local art and culture. Three shipping containers were used for the studio as the client wants the studio to be temporary and can be relocated within the premises as per future use. Two containers were interconnected to use as a pottery studio and display area. The third container is used as a cafetaria with some display spaces.
