Gui Zhao Hai 桂兆海 (b.1974)
Gui Zhao Hai (b. 1974, Anhui) is an artist, calligrapher and writer based in Beijing. He graduated from the Beijing Fine Art Academy in 2010, where he studied under the master painter Li Xiaoke, and entered the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 2011, where he studied under Jia Youfu. From his mentors Li Xiaoke and Jia Youfu, Gui absorbed the lessons passed down by Li Xiaoke’s father Li Keran (1907-1989), an important and prominent figure in 20th century Chinese art, who was once applauded by the master Qi Baishi (1864-1957) as the “most important painter in the post-Qianlong-Jiaqing period”. Gui is best known for his monumental paintings depicting the Siguniangshan and highland terrains of Western Sichuan province.

Fan Shao Hua 范少华 (b.1963) Born in 1963 in the Guangzhou province of China, Fan Shao Hua is a multi-talented artist based in Singapore. Fan first started to learn ink painting at the age of ten, when he studied painting the human figure and bird and flower subjects. He graduated from the Guangzhou Academy of Arts in 1985, specializing in oil painting. Fan has been a full time artist since then, dividing his time between his art practice and teaching for almost three decades. He moved to Singapore in 1992, where he has made his home since then. Among his numerous accolades, Fan clinched the top prize in the 19th UOB Painting of the Year award in 2000, and the International Premium Oil Painting Artist by the Hong Kong World Class Artist Committee, 2008. Most recently, Fan was invited to stage solo exhibitions at the most prestigious art museums of China, presenting “Essence.Life” in Shanghai Art Museum in Shanghai, Guangzhou Art Museum in Guangzhou, and the National Art Museum of China in Beijing. Fan has been showcased internationally in countries including France, China, Japan, Taiwan, Korea, Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia, establishing himself as one of the most renowned artists in Singapore and the region.

Liu Guo 刘国 (b.1956) Liu Guo was born on 1956 in Fuyu, Jilin province of China. Liu began his artistic practice at the age of 8, when he started drawing and painting for portraiture commissions. He later graduated from one of Jilin’s finest institution for art training–the Department of Fine Art at Northeast Normal University, and furthered his Graduate Studies at the China Academy of Art (formerly the Zhejiang Academy of Art) under the tutelage of renowned 20th century Chinese modern masters including Lu Yanshao, Liu Haisu, and Wu Zuoren. In 1990, Liu Guo published a book titled ‘New Techniques in Chinese Landscape Painting’, documenting a unique set of twelve painting techniques which he created from extensive research and practical analysis of the entire canon of classical and contemporary Chinese painting practices. In 1991, Liu was famous for breaking the world record for the longest ink and colour Changbaishan landscape scroll painting with his 60 metre scroll painting titled ‘The Majesty of Mt. Changbaishan’ 《长白雄魂》. With the exhibition of this painting in a national convention《中华百绝博览会》 in Guangzhou in 1992 , Liu was thus included in the ‘100 Greatest Talents of China’ 《中 华百绝》. Now, across five decades of artistic practice, numerous academic positions and exhibitions worldwide, Liu has established himself amongst his contemporaries as a master painter of the Chinese landscape.

Aaron Gan 颜明正 (b.1979)
Aaron Gan (b. 1979, Singapore) is a full-time watercolour artist based in Singapore. Gan graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Western Australia in 2003, and started painting full-time in 2012 after joining the Singapore Watecolour Society. He is also a member of the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts Club and Singapore Art Society. Gan is a self-taught watercolourist with a passion for landscapes, who is driven by his search for new and innovative approaches to the medium. His inspiration stems from both Western and Chinese painting aesthetics, a convergence of watercolour with the aesthetic of Chinese composition. In July 2012, he was selected to be one of the only three Asian artists at the International Watercolour Biennial in Belgium, and his work was featured in Artist’s Palette, a leading Australian arts magazine (2013). His work has been extensively covered by the local press, including his first solo exhibition that was a resounding success, with all the works sold out.
