Amanpulo is set on its own private island, Pamalican, part of the Quiniluban Group of Cuyo Islands in the Philippines. Surrounded by white sand beaches, clear blue waters and a coral reef 300 metres from the shore, Amanpulo is the epitome of an island paradise.
Guests are greeted in Manila and travel by chartered plane to the island, landing on Amanpulo’s airstrip.
Tucked into the tropical foliage, the 40 Beach, Hillside and Treetop Casitas are modelled after the Philippine bahay kubo dwellings. Each casita has its own buggy for exploring the island.
Each casita features a bedroom with a king-size bed, two window divans and a wooden sundeck with outdoor loungers. The spacious bathrooms have a large dressing area, shower and raised Cebu marble bathtub.
Amanpulo’s design offers seamless indoor/outdoor living, and all around the resort are secluded spots where one can enjoy simply being outdoors in beautiful surrounds.
The Clubhouse, Restaurant and Bar open out onto a terrace that lies alongside the 30-metre pool, offering views of the ocean and surrounding islands.
Poolside sun-loungers are shaded beneath umbrellas and trellises of flowering bougainvillea.
The Restaurant features Asian and Continental cuisine. Guests can also enjoy al fresco dining in the Picnic Grove or a bonfire dinner on the beach.
Specialising in seafood and tapas, the Beach Club overlooks the island’s sandy white shores, with tables available on the beach (right ) and sheltered on the elevated wooden terrace. The Windsurf Hut and Picnic Grove serve wood oven-fired pizza and salads, and the Lagoon Club (above) focuses on Vietnamese fare.
From left to right: Tapas and Grilled Lobster (Beach Club); Romana and Dessert Pizzas (Picnic Grove); Duck Curry with Pho (Lagoon Club).
Resort facilities include a spacious Library (above) offering a wide selection of reading materials, and a Boutique (right ) showcasing jewellery and other Philippine handiworks available for purchase.
Amanpulo’s private villa homes (one pictured below) enjoy direct beach frontage of no less than 40 metres.
Each villa features a private swimming pool and offers separate bedroom, living and dining pavilions, an outdoor lounge and a kitchen. One, two and four bedroom villas are available.
The West Villa Clubhouse is ideal for private functions whether personal celebrations such as weddings and anniversaries, or corporate gatherings including board meetings and presentations. Theatre and audiovisual equipment is available.
All villas come with a cook and housekeeper, and a number enjoy beautiful garden settings.
Amanpulo is a place of peace where relaxation and wellness go hand in hand. The Aman Spa is situated on a hillside above the treetops with views of the Sulu Sea. Designed as a tranquil sanctuary, it consists of a series of pavilions constructed of native wood and other natural materials.
Each treatment room offers a deep-soaking bath tub, washroom, dressing area and steam shower, along with magnificent sea views.
Aman Spa’s Reception Pavilion includes a lounge and retail space on the entry level, and a Finishing Salon on the floor below for manicures, pedicures and hair appointments.
The Yoga and Meditation Pavilion (far right ) enjoys beautiful green and sea views and is available for private or group classes. The Fitness Pavilion houses the Pilates Studio (above), an airy gymnasium (below) and wet areas including steam rooms, cold plunge pools and outdoor relaxation areas.
The island’s turquoise waters and coral reefs provide a variety of water and beach activities. These include snorkelling and scuba diving (with PADI certification available), as well as fishing.
Amanpulo also offers windsurfing, kayaking and tennis. Excursions can include a picnic at the Mangrove Hut on Manamoc Island (opposite bottom left ).
