Located in the heart of the downtown area, consists of the Center for the Visual Arts, The Grand Theater and the 400 Block Square.
The Center For The Visual Arts
Offering classes to all age groups throughout the year. The Caroline S. Mark Gallery provides exhibition space for local and regional artists, with several thematic shows throughout the year. A gift shop displays and sells many varied art pieces.
The Grand Theater
Provides expanded performance and entertainment areas. Its 1,200-seat theater hosts both national touring productions and musicians as well as many local entertainment groups. The Great Hall is host to the ArtsBar and is the site of many small ensemble presentations.
400 Block Square
Join us on the 400 Block Square in the winter for ice-skating and in the summer for one of several outdoor concerts. In September, the Square becomes the heart of Wausau’s Festival of Arts
– Artrageous Weekend. Shopping in downtown Wausau becomes quite an experience. Enjoy the open boutique atmosphere and many unique and local shops that line our downtown streets. Don’t forget to stop and take a break at any one of the food and beverage establishments along the way. Once revived - shop on!
The Riverwalk
Part of The Jefferson Street Inn & Event Center is a work in progress. A paved walk along the Wisconsin River can lead you to adventure. If you are a bicyclist, skateboarder or an inline skater, you will enjoy the 10,000 sq. ft. Skate Park. Perhaps you prefer to sit and read a book on the Marathon County Library grounds or enjoy one of the many events that are scheduled throughout the year. Watch kayaks navigate the world-class whitewater rapids course. We also invite you to the Big Bull Falls Blues Fest in August.
