ABOUT THE BOOK For a teacher in the modern volatile world is not enough to provide knowledge to students but it is also very important to arouse their creative power as well as spread moral values. We are very delighted that schools from five countries united for working together in ERASMUS+ (KA 2) STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP PROJECT „WE ARE THE WORLD, WE ARE THE CHILDREN“. Teachers helped students to search for the best stories of success how children changed the world. Teachers conducted the lessons based on these stories and students presented them using various ways of artistic expression. These works were released in a special edition as DVD. Short stories of success and lesson plans of different subjects from all the project countries are presented in this methodical edition. We invite teachers to practice our positive teaching/learning experience. We would like to give special thanks to our students and teachers for their hard work, energy, creativity, support, guodance, aassitance ans time preparing this edition. Thanks to everyone who made a contribution on this Project.

About the Project

The 21st century brought a lot of disagreement among generations. Today it is more often considered that children appreciate values absolutely otherwise. Diverse generations see the same things differently as a result of generation gap. The younger people talk about a lack of understanding by adults. The older people reply that the present generation is not responsible and has no wish to act positively. It is a considered opinion that the youth will not be strong enough for challenges and struggle for human values. They have no ideals. The concept of a project – to search for the kindest stories of success how children changed the world in the history of nation; saved people, weren’t lost in extreme situations, protected and struggled for human values. Working on this project, we have an intention to inspire our students and rising generation to act presently and change the world today; despite of, young age, nation, race, social status, beliefs, and influence of other circumstances. The substance of a project – to prove a self-realization in acquiring and improving social, linguistic, communicative, cognitive, initiative and creative, cultural, individual competences and skills. Acquiring these competences, students will develop their attitudes towards values, will become more tolerant to history, other generation, will be open to other cultures and views, will develop self-confidence and trust to others. We hope our project partners will be active in creation strong Europe, in the aspect of collaboration, communication, mutual respect and appreciation.

The First Story SHARING GOODNESS ALWAYS ENDS UP IN WINNING

Ieva Krivickaitė, 15 years old girl is from Plungė, a town in the region of Lithuania, Samogitia. Since her childhood she is living with diabetes, but a teenage girl has already done much more than an adult might achieve through the whole life. Ieva created a miracle which gave a hope to 2 years old Augustė having an oncologic disease. An older friend Ieva built bridges of hope to overcome a disease by collecting 300 000 LT. The money was donated by Lithuanians and people from other countries in the world. A teenage girl had a willingness to search for help everywhere she was able to collect donations. So, she asked for help at people’s homes, appealed to believers from a pulpit in a church, to people of good will in social networks. Ieva had been staying in hospital half a year where she met Augustė and her mum when her disease, diabetes flared up. They spent two months in hospital and got in with each other. It was difficult to leave Augustė in hospital because her treatment had to be long. Ieva knew that oncologic disease, a cancer of a sight nerve could be treated in Germany. But the treatment cost 200 000 LT. A mum of a little sick girl had no such sum of money. Ieva posted Augustė’s picture in a social network and wrote about the situation. However, the beginning was difficult. Ieva told about the girl waiting for help to the school community, during classes, breaks and parents’ meetings. Ieva and her friend Eligija wove bracelets and sold them. They also sold fruit and vegetables from a garden and collected donations. According to Ieva, she

believed there were a lot of sincere people, and simply knew it was necessary to collect such amount of money. Living with a difficult disease, Ieva proves herself that she is stronger than her illness and troubles of other people. Collecting money for a little girl’s treatment, Ieva meets more children and youth who need help. Though she is engaged in a missionary activity and does a voluntary work, she has enough time for studies, piano classes, karate training where she has been exercising for several years. Ieva is a student of 10th form, but she has not planned her future studies yet. However, Ieva wishes to link her future work with children and people who need help. Ieva has made a lot of effort to achieve her aim, for she is a strong-willed and a stubborn person. She received a nomination “Hope of a Year” during TV 3 project awards “Lithuanian Honor” in 2013.
