8 PROGRAM-AT-A-GLANCE 10 IMCAS ACADEMY 12 SESSION FORMATS Discover our exciting learning blueprints 14 THEMES Take a closer look at some of the hot topics this year FOCUS ON 18 ANATOMY ON LIVE CADAVER WORKSHOP
The scientific program for 2017 has been carefully crafted to incorporate all aspects of plastic surgery, dermatology and medical aesthetic practice. Essential topics such as body and face surgery, injectables, suspending devices, clinical dermatology and lasers & EBD will all be covered over the course of the four days. We strive year after year to expand the scope of the field to include sessions in clinical dermatology, cosmeceuticals, hair restoration, ethnic morphologies and professional business in order to reflect the breadth and complexity of our field. As those that have come before it, this 19th edition of the IMCAS World Congress will open with a bang with the world-famous Anatomy on Cadaver Workshop via live stream for the most in-depth, detailed insights into procedures and complications.
20 MARKETING & PRACTICE MANAGEMENT
The best thing about an IMCAS congress is that it is your congress to design. Our sessions span eight rooms simultaneously, in addition to our exhibition of major industry players over two floors. Choose the sessions that interest you most and tailor your learning to suit you and your practice.
27 BREAST SURGERY MODULE
Those of you who are familiar with IMCAS will know that no congress passes us by without ample opportunity to network, socialize and celebrate our profession in more informal surroundings. We hope to see you expanding your professional network at our Networking Cocktail or better still, throwing yourself into our themed Gala Dinner. Don’t forget that you can access content from IMCAS Annual World Congress online via IMCAS Academy, our academic and social e-learning platform. IMCAS Academy offers 1 000 videos from IMCAS congresses across the world, resulting in a digital anytime, anywhere approach that stretches beyond the congresses and offers aesthetic learning at your fingertips. We once again extend the warmest of welcomes to all of our colleagues, both new and returning.

SESSION FORMATS
Join a Challenging and informative Clinical Case Study
Case studies are explored via 10-minute presentations on challenging clinical cases, followed by a panel of two to four experts assessing the case by applying his/ her proposed treatment plan in 3 to 5 minutes. The presenter gives a short presentation of the diagnostic and treatment plan originally applied, as well as discussing related complications. Delegates can then participate in a chaired questions and answers session.
5
Join a Trial or a Debate for exciting Exchange
Trials are based on the format of a trial in a courtroom and aim to spark debate and controversy! The session addresses an issue with arguments for and against. Two judges present the case then prosecutors and defendants present the different arguments on the topic. Debates also offer a lively and fruitful discussion on controversial issues. Here predetermined hot topics allow the audience to interact with those debating. Following a short introduction, lectures for and against are given, followed by a chaired roundtable discussion.
4 SUNDAY from 8 to 9 am • Procedures I do and used to do: upper & midface (S18) • Procedures I do and used to do: lower face & neck (S19) • Long-term structural rhinoplasty (S22) • Major breast hypertrophies & gigantomastia (S179) • Breast reduction: tips & tricks (S181) • Periareolar mastopexy: pushing the limits (S203)
These 6 to 12-minutes presentations are based on spontaneous abstract submissions that have been reviewed and selected by the Scientific Board. These sessions bring new scientific perspectives and new speakers to the forefront. All sessions are chaired and interactive.
6 THURSDAY from 9 to 10 am • Dealing with the new deregulated planet (S41) from 2 to 3 pm • Is EBD rhinosculpture effective? (S21) FRIDAY from 8 to 9 am

“Give something back”
“Beauty is useful: it helps fight the disease better”
E
very year a percentage of our ticket sales from our Gala Dinner event “La Nuit IMCAS” goes to support a charity. For several years, this donation has supported a range of worthy causes. In 2015, for example, it paid for the creation of an IT platform that showed patients the different reconstruction techniques after breast cancer, meaning a patient can now visualize her options, leading to clearer expectations and a greater sense of involvement in the process. So join us for a dazzling evening of dining and entertainment and support an essential cause at the same time!
Last year, IMCAS had the pleasure of contributing to a wonderful charity aimed at helping women deal with and recover from cancer. CEW is a global network (US, UK, France) of 8 000 professionals that promotes the sharing, exchange and mutual aid within the world of the beauty. The French CEW has developed a wonderful project called: «Les Centres de Beauté” in order to help women during and after their illness and bring them physical and moral comfort. For many patients, having to be treated in hospital comes as a shock. No matter the quality of the care and treatment, they are scared, and fear they might not recover their body and face integrity. That’s why CEW brings them human support (listening, relaxation), and beauty treatments to reconcile them with their body. Today, this support is present in 29 hospitals in France and so far 21 000 patients have benefited from this treatment. It was an honour to welcome Mrs Françoise MONTENAY, the president of CEW France and of the Chanel’s supervisory board during the IMCAS Gala Dinner 2016 and to make a donation for this magnificent cause.

Moments WITH THE EXPERTS
GOLDBERG David J Dermatologist United States Clinical professor and director of Laser Research in the department of Dermatology at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine Module director for R&D and New Technologies Chair and key speaker for S68 and S74 (teaching course)
R&D and New Technology What new technology in aesthetic medicine is getting you really excited this year? • Silhouette Instalift for its combined benefit in skin tightening, lifting and improvement on skin quality • Use of superficial radiation therapy to treat keloids • Continued development of newer radiofrequency approaches in aesthetic medicine What are the most important technological innovations in vascular laser treatment in recent years? The development of high-powered safe and effective KTP lasers for the treatment of vascular lesions. What important recent advances have you witnessed for pigmentation treatments? Undoubtably picosecond laser technology. In your opinion, what are the most important recent innovations in the treatment of hyperhidrosis? Microwave technology has proved its long-term results. Although a variety of energy based device treatments can lead to decreased sweating, none show the degree of improvement and safety of microwave technology. Studies now show 80% of patients treated have significantly decreased sweating from 2 to 4 years after only 2 treatments. Newer approaches using tumescent anesthesia allow for treatment with higher energies than originally used. This has led to 50% of patients only needing one treatment.
This may lead to revolutionary “approaches in the treatment of both acne and unwanted light or white hairs.” What do you predict for the future for R&D and new technology in aesthetic medicine? • Continued improvement in technology for body contouring; Non-invasive body contouring can now be accomplished with lasers, radiofrequency technology, ultrasound and photoacoustic technology. Optimal results may involve using more than one technology • Continued development of topical products activated by lasers; Various lasers are now being studied to activate both gold and silver nanoparticles. This may lead to revolutionary approaches in the treatment of both acne and unwanted light or white hairs V26 SCIENTIFIC PROGRAM 10/10/2016
KERSCHER Martina J Dermatologist Germany Head, Division of Cosmetic Sciences, Department of Chemistry, University of Hamburg Key speaker for S78 and S79 dedicated to cosmeceuticals
Cosmeceuticals What are the latest trends in cosmeceuticals and delivery systems? The latest trends are individually tailored peptides to improve collagen and elastin synthesis, antioxidants that render deleterious effects of skin pollution as well as suitable delivery systems that are able to release actives where they are needed. Are there any common misconceptions or limits with regards to cosmeceuticals? Within medicine hopefully not. However, we should be aware that cosmeceuticals need at least 4 - 6 weeks until they can affect aging signs and that they are not able to completely eliminate deep furrows and wrinkles within a few days. This is an important challenge in patient communication and education.
“Skin surface and skin health
both have an important impact on overall attractiveness AND on patient satisfaction.” Why do more and more physicians and practitioners include this treatment in their practice? Well, in my opinion this might be due to the fact that skin surface and skin health both have an important impact on overall attractiveness AND on patient satisfaction. Moreover, we have to look after a holistic treatment approach against aging signs, which also should include treatment of epidermis and dermis. What is your vision for the learning potential of IMCAS’s one-day course on cosmeceuticals? My vision would be to simplify our one-day course on cosmeceuticals to effectively adapt individual treatment concepts for a majority of patients searching for anti-aging treatments.
MORDON Serge PHD - Research France Professor Serge R. Mordon, PhD works in Lille, France for the French National Institute of Health and Medical Research (INSERM). He is the director of INSERM U 1189 (Laser Therapies Assisted by Image and Simulation for Oncology) and the director of the Photomedicine Center (Lille University Hospital). Chair for S33, S34, S67 and S139 dedicated to lipolysis, clinical dermatology and lasers and EBD
Lasers & EBD Can you briefly explain what Light Emitting Fabric is and how it works? Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is considered to be a promising method for treating various types of cancer. A homogeneous and reproducible illumination during clinical PDT plays a determinant role in preventing under- or overtreatment. The development of flexible light sources would considerably improve the homogeneity of light delivery. The integration of optical fiber into flexible structures could offer an interesting alternative. The technology of Light Emitting Fabric (LEF) uses conventional Plastic Optical Fibers (POF). The main advantage of LEF based POF is its potential flexibility due to the relatively small diameters of POF (typically 250 µm in diameter). Besides, the POF length is not limited as it offers the possibility to form large size emitting panels. The side-emission is obtained by inducing macrobending of POF. This macrobending is due to specific architecture weaving of textile structures. This approach does not require any post treatment of POF. These LEF are now in clinical evaluation to treat Actinic Keratosis with PDT (www.phosistos.com)
“Aggressive marketing and low cost technologies (RF, LED, ...) have played a major role to increase the popularity of Lasers and EBD.” How has the market for and popularity of Lasers and EBD changed in recent years? Could you give us the main advances? Aggressive marketing and low cost technologies (RF, LED, ...) have played a major role to increase the popularity of Lasers and EBD.

CORPORATE FUNDING
IMCAS PARIS 2017
IMCAS derives its revenues either from the industry’s subscriptions or from physicians’s subscriptions. IMCAS is conducting educational activities but it is also a profit-seeking business. How can this dilemma be resolved? Simply by clearly identifying and differentiating sponsored activities from non sponsored ones.
Corporate FUNDING CLICK IMCAS.COM Read more about how IMCAS retrieve its revenues and where it comes from.
Business grants and sponsorships are clarified in order for all concerned parties (doctors, industries, foundations, government bodies, private purpose funds) to stay aware and vigilant. Thus, IMCAS embraces and welcomes funding and always given the fact that funds’ origins are traced. Industries acting as business corporations, may support IMCAS by providing either an educational grant or a sponsorship. • An educational grant for a program or an event is a financial donation with no exchange partnership at stake. Funds are given according to the donator wishes in order to support the recipient’s program or project. The scientific content is entirely developed and chosen by the Scientific Board and as such is eligible for CME accreditation. Unlike sponsoring, which is a bilateral exchange involving the recipient promoting its sponsor, granting is a unilateral gesture. • A sponsorship is the financial support of an activity. Sponsoring an event involves a partnership exchange between the sponsor and the sponsee. Although a commercial intent may be at heart, one must bear in mind that reasons for sponsoring are various.

Don’t just take OUR WORD FOR IT! We know our IMCAS congresses are of the highest quality but don’t just take our word for it! Delegates from last year’s Annual World Congress expressed just how much they enjoyed the IMCAS experience
“IMCAS is a vital congress to our practice. I still think that IMCAS gives us confidence in our mode of actions. IMCAS was the first congress in the world that expressed how the field changed through socioeconomic changes from the dogma of academia to the reality of life in the science of aesthetic dermatology. In 2016 the congress is still on that path and reflects the reality of life. IMCAS gives an atmosphere where dermatologists identify their existence in the field with others of same caliber.”
Harb

ACPÂŽ Double Syringe PRP System for Aesthetic Medicine and Plastic Surgery Arthrex Personalized Cell Therapy is a PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) procedure which can stimulate tissue recovery and regeneration completely naturally. As such, it is used in the treatment of wrinkles and alopecia as well as for reconstructions and flap plasty. 1, 2 This is due to the growth factors found in the blood plasma and the platelets. These initiate processes which, amongst other things, lead to cell proliferation, collagen synthesis and matrix formation. 3, 4 The ACP Double Syringe enables closed and easy production of PRP. No synthetic separating materials are used as the PRP is separated from the other blood components in a purely physical process.
Two Syringes in One An innovative design for producing PRP with a platelet concentration that is two to three times greater coupled with a reduction in white blood cells and erythrocytes Speed Using the Arthrex ACP Double Syringe, PRP can be produced and applied within a few minutes (if used within 30 minutes of blood sampling no anticoagulant is necessary) Safety The Arthrex ACP Double Syringe is a closed, sterile system for use in the practice or in an OR setting Simplicity System handling is easy and practical
