Begin your day at the best restored of the five Missions, Misson San Jose. Established in 1720, it is known as the “Queen of the Missions” and is the showpiece of the San Antonio Missions National Historical Park. We will tour the Indian and Spanish soldier’s quarters that were located within the walls. San Jose’s church is one of the most beautiful in the country with its elaborate carvings on the chapel facade. The next stop will be the border-style El Mercado or Mexican Market. Serving as a hub of Commerce years ago, it has retained much of its charm of the past, with its quaint shops offering local crafts, art, clothing and food. There are also two indoor markets filled to the brim with vendors. Guests will enjoy lunch at the famous Mi Tierra and then will have some free time to shop. After lunch, we will tour the most famous of the Missions, Mission San Antonio de Valero, better known as the Alamo. Established in 1718, the Alamo played a pivotal role in Texas HIstory. The shrine displays exhibits from the battle and guests will enjoy the beautifully landscaped grounds. Guests will have a short time to explore the riverwalk as well before returning to the JW Marriott. If you would like to join us on this tour, please sign up on the Registration page at the back of this packet.
