INNOVATION IN SPORTS, FITNESS, & PLAY FOR ALL
WE ARE PROUD TO SUPPORT
Dear Friends of Asphalt Green,
It is our pleasure to welcome you to our 2024 Gala. We are grateful you are here with us as our community conjoins to celebrate a new and exciting vision for Asphalt Green.
This year, we announced our updated mission to transform lives and build community through sports, fitness, and play for all. For over 50 years, Asphalt Green’s work has been predicated on the fact that fitness and recreation bring people of all backgrounds together and empower them to live healthier and more fulfilling lives. We believe our new mission honors our journey and more fully reflects the transformative nature of our work.
Today, Asphalt Green is showing the world what we stand to gain when everyone can participate in fitness and athletics. From toddlers learning to swim in our Waterproofing program to Olympic swimmers training for glory, young athletes taking the field in our Community Sports Leagues to older adults looking to stay active, Asphalt Green has become a premier destination for athletes of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities.
In the years to come, our vision is to make Asphalt Green’s excellence and leadership in expanding access to sports, fitness, and play known to all. As we look around the room tonight and share space with USA Swimming, Major League Soccer, the National Basketball Association, Olympic swimmers, and other industry leaders, we know that we are making great progress. Just a few months ago, we also received the largest grant in Asphalt Green history in partnership with the Gray Foundation to launch Wave Makers, a groundbreaking free swim instruction program.
However, like those who visit our gym or our teams competing to be national champions, we know our goal cannot be accomplished alone. To build a world where everyone has access to sports, fitness, and play will require the collaboration of sports and fitness leaders around the world. We believe that tonight is a great start.
In good health,
Jordan Brackett Caroline Hribar Chief Executive Officer Board ChairTim Hinchey III became the President & Chief Executive Officer of USA Swimming in July 2017 and CEO of the USA Swimming Foundation in August 2019.

In his role as President of the Colorado Rapids, Hinchey led the club to both on- and off-field success. In 2016, he was named Major League Soccer’s Executive of the Year.
Hinchey’s international experience includes a three-year term as the Vice President of Commercial and Chief Marketing Officer for English football club Derby County FC.
Before heading overseas, Hinchey served in executive positions for the NBA Charlotte Bobcats and the New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets, as well as serving as Director of Strategic Alliances for Maloof Sports & Entertainment, the parent company of the Sacramento Kings.
His start in professional sports began with the Los Angeles Kings in 1991 and continued with sales and marketing roles with the TriCity Americans junior hockey club and the IHL Utah Grizzlies. Hinchey went on to his role with Maloof Sports & Entertainment, where he developed strategic plans for all corporate partnerships integral to the NBA Sacramento Kings, WNBA Sacramento Monarchs, WISL Sacramento Knights, ARCO Arena and Senior PGA Tour Gold Rush Classic.

SPONSOR 15 SWIM LESSONS FOR AN INCLUSION CLASS $10,000 1
Since its inauguration, Asphalt Green’s swim school has taught over 100,000 New Yorkers how to swim. Our Waterproofing program partners with schools with limited access to swim instruction and runs 45-minute classes weekly at seven sites throughout the city to break down barriers to swim. By supporting this cause, you can provide an entire class with life-changing swim instruction and empower them with a lifetime of safe and joyful swimming.
PROVIDE A FULL-YEAR SCHOLARSHIP FOR ONE ASPHALT GREEN SOCCER CLUB ATHLETE
Asphalt Green provides nearly half a million dollars in scholarships annually across all programs, offering talented young athletes equitable access to the pursuit of their chosen sport. In addition to the widely acknowledged mental and physical health benefits of sports, studies have also shown that sports participation conditions athletes for achievement off the field of play too. To date, many Asphalt Green scholarship recipients have gone on to compete in college and beyond. By funding an AGSC scholarship, you can ignite a young soccer player’s career and open doors that will benefit them for a lifetime. $5,000 2
According to the Aspen Institute’s Project Play Report, kids involved in youth sports score 40% higher on test scores, are 15% more likely to go to college, and go on to receive 7-8% higher earnings than their peers. Asphalt Green’s free and low-cost Community Sports Leagues put middle school students with limited access to organized sports into the game. Today, you help countless students from four more schools form life-long friendships and achieve success inside and outside the fields of play.
BRING THE JOY OF CAMP TO A CHILD WITH ONE WEEK OF PLAY DAYS
Through activities like soccer, swimming, basketball, yoga, art, and more, Play Days help kids discover passions and build character alongside their peers. Based on our Summer Day Camp curriculum, Play Days emphasize community, confidence, independence, energy, kindness, and respect. With the gift of Play Days, you can help another camper find what they love and make memories they’ll never forget.
Asphalt Green’s Recess Enhancement Program (REP) ensures New York City public school students get the CDC recommended daily exercise they need to thrive by reclaiming the most underutilized part of the school day- recess. Students who participate in Asphalt Green’s REP are 52% more active than their peers, and 81% of participating schools report a reduction in bullying and fighting. In 2024, REP grew to serve an organizational record of 50 schools and 17,000 students. Your generosity can help five children gain access to the transformative mental and physical health benefits of REP’s physical activity programming.
With seven Olympic gold medals and 21 world championship gold medals, Katie Ledecky is a hero to swimmers all over the world. Thanks to the support of USA Swimming, you can inspire a young swimmer to achieve their dreams through Katie’s autographed “Go for the Gold” package.
