Town Hall Meetings Negotiation Skills Workshop Thursday, March 28, 12 - 2 p.m. Location- Livingston Student Center, Room 202 ABC Facilitator - Patrick Love This workshop is specifically tailored for women, but all are welcome to attend. The purpose of this workshop includes raising awareness of issues related to negotiating in professional settings, especially when in the process of accepting a job. We will also identify obstacles to effective negotiation, how to overcome those obstacles, and how to improve crucial negotiation skills. There will be opportunities to practice. Wanted: Student Affairs Conference Committee Members Want to be involved with planning the Rutgers Student Affairs Conference? Join the Conference Committee! 2013 Student Affairs Awards for Excellence Nominations are now being accepted for the 2013 Student Affairs Awards for Excellence. In reflecting the vision and mission of the Student Affairs Division, we look to celebrate collaboration and innovation and foster a culture of exceptional service to Rutgers students. Please take a moment to recognize the outstanding work of staff and graduate students within the Student Affairs Division. Nominations may be submitted by faculty, staff, and students.

Outstanding Graduate Student Award from ACPA Commission for Admissions, Orientation and the First Year Experience. Nina Duong won the Outstanding Master’s Student Award from ACPA Standing Committee for Graduate Students and New Professionals.

New Hire Samuel DeWitt Proctor Lecture Series The second lecture of a two part series discussing Diverse Millenial Students in College will take place on April 4, 10:30 am - 1:00 pm in the Rutgers Student Center. Speakers include Dr. Mary Howard-Hamilton (Indiana State University), Dr. Rosa Maria Banda (UTSA), Dr. Anna Ortiz (California State University) and Dr. Lori Patton (Indiana University IUPUI). The Asian American Cultural Center has hired Jodie Shin as Administrative Assistant for the center. Jodie, who is a Rutgers alumnus (SAS ’09) and a very active student leader in her undergraduate years, previously worked for the Princeton Packet Publications prior to joining the AACC at first in a temporary role. We now welcome Jodie as our full-time Administrative Assistant.

Wanted: Professional Staff Welcome Committee Members Danielle Niro and Rachael Scharen are co-chairing the committee and would love to see others become involved in the Professional Staff Welcome in August! Webinar Series Introduction to Using Developmental Theory in Student Affairs Practice - April 3, at 2pm. This hour long webinar presented by Tracy Davis will offer an overview of theories commonly used in professional preparation programs, with a particular focus on navigating practice. Participants will gain an introductory understanding of central student developmental theories, explore the role of theory in student affairs practice, and begin to develop understanding of the relationship between theory and practice.
