Assiniboia Curling Club Rock Talk for November submitted by Bill Lothian The Assiniboia Curling Club is off and sliding for the coming season. The ice is in, the rings are painted, and the ice surface is in excellent shape under the care of Quentin Coghill. All the leagues are now in full swing. The co-ed Rec League on Monday and Wednesday afternoons has drawn-up four rinks. This league is always searching for new curlers, rinks and subs. The Assiniboia Curling Club operate in two halves, now until mid-January and until the end of March. If interested, call the rink at 306-642-5115 and they will do what they can. The Monday night Travelling League, sponsored by Nelson GM and Southland Co-op, rounded-up 12 teams for this season – seven teams originate from Assiniboia, three come from Lafleche and two teams hail from Mossbank. For some great curling action, drop down to the rink

on Monday evenings for the 7:30 p.m. draw and enjoy a beverage in the ACC upper lounge. The Tuesday night non-competitive Rec League presently has five teams in action. This league could really use another team to balance off the weekly schedule. If interested, call Bill Lothian. Finally, the Thursday night Competitive Rec League, sponsored by Paterson Grain, attracted 14 teams this year. There are two draws at 6:30 and 8:30 pm. Teams are always looking for spares. There will be a series of bonspiels on the slate following Christmas. The Master’s Spiel runs from January 4-6, 2019. The Mixed Spiel continues from January 18-19, 2019. The Dayroid Fun Spiel is held on Saturday, February 16. The two-day Annual Ladies Spiel win run from March 15-16 and the Annual Men’s Spiel goes from March 2224. The ACC will also host PSSD Bantam Regional and District play-offs in latter February and early March.
