Our client The Jackson County Continuum of Care is an organization aimed to end homelessness in Jackson County, MI. They have been provided with relief funds to allocate amongst residents who are in danger of eviction. They have asked us to help them better prioritize to which groups of people these funds go.

Client Problem The Jackson County CoC speculate that certain groups of people in Jackson County face higher rates of evictions than others. They do not know how to prioritize which residents are in the most need of their assistance.

Value we bring We can help the CoC by conducting analysis to make sense of the information they have been gathering on the evictions they’ve prevented. This analysis will seek to find patterns and correlations in the data with the objective of identifying which groups of people need the most help.

Our objectives & Goals #1

Identify which groups of people have historically received evictions in Jackson County and were helped by the CoC the most.

#2

Figure out which factors (race, age, marital status, education level, landlord, location, etc.) are related most strongly to receiving an eviction and help from the CoC.

#3

Determine how COVID-19 has played a role in the evictions the CoC has helped prevent.

#4

Create clear visualizations of our findings.
