MOUNT STREET AREA MASTERPLAN
from 35-37 Mount Street, Prahran
by ASTON
The Mount Street Area Masterplan, endorsed in November 2019 and currently under construction, aims to increase, and improve public open space in the immediate area through the creation of four new pocket parks and four pedestrian enhanced streets and shared zones.

1. Anchor Park
Anchor Park is the biggest of four proposed pocket parks in the Mount Street Precinct. It will be connected to Cecil Street, Anchor Place and Clifton Street, and will serve as a natural, lively space for casual get-togethers. The central amphitheatre with bleacher walls in lawn will be the main attraction of the park, which can be used for concerts or everyday meetings. The northern edge will have a rain garden, which will serve as water filtration and ecological interest.
3. Remo Park
Remo Park connects Mount Street to Regent Street and is designed as a relaxed space catering for picnics and informal seating. Custom designed seats and benches are integrated into the garden to provide distinct spaces for different-sized small groups under the shade of the new tree planting. Along the southern edge, a lawn and integrated seating bleacher provide a sunny space for larger groups to gather in the sun. A rain garden along the northern edge will provide water filtration and ecological interest.
2. Mouclif Park
Mouclif Park is a narrow park that connects Clifton Street to Mount Street. It is designed as an active space for urban exercise, with features such as a brick wall at the Clifton Street end that will be converted into an exercise object, and furniture for seating and exercise. The park opens to Mount Street with a sloping lawn for relaxation or exercise. It also has a rain garden along the northern edge for water filtration and ecological interest.

4. Bangs Street Park

The small Bangs Park connects Regent Street to Bangs Street and is designed as a shaded, natural gathering space. The central lawn can be used for picnics or exercise, and a bleacher wall provides seating. A feature wall will be created for art, sculpture, or projection. The design of the shared zone and crossing on Bangs Street should complement the future proposed open space within the Bangs Street Estate.
