L

eaving is most often sad but it can also be joyous! Leaving your Alma Mater, the Aklan Catholic College, all your friends and classmates,

teachers and mentors means a lot to a graduate. Years of being together with all the struggles, pains, tears, joys, laughter-these cannot be erased so easily. Gratitude is in place-grateful for what one becomes because of the education offered by the Aklan Catholic College. However, this is just half of the story. The real challenge is to be faced when you are now outside the conďŹ nes of the school and come face to face with the reality of the world. You will be tested by situations wherein you have to fall back on what you have studied and gained from your learning years in the classroom. Indeed, the future has a lot of possibilities for a graduate. This is the joy of knowing that one has grown and now is able to face life and the world. May your education and formation at the College be of valuable service to all of you, dear Graduates of Batch 2005. May the Eucharist be a source of courage and may our Blessed Mother continue to guide and protect you.

T

he Academic Year 2004-2005 has been a very fruitful and signiďŹ cant year for Aklan Catholic College as an educational institution. The name

of Aklan College was changed to Aklan Catholic College to provide more focus and emphasis on the inherent mission of the institution being a prime mover of Christian education in the province of Aklan. It was also during the academic year that the institution was granted Level 1 accreditation by the Philippine Association of Accrediting Schools, Colleges and Universities (PAASCU). The graduate school ranked 3 (Very Good) among the graduate schools offering Teacher Education program in the whole Region 6 (Western Visayas). These and many more recognition given to our institution as indicator and proofs of our unrelenting efforts to promote quality and excellent higher education programs. All these are not possible without you graduates. You were integral part of these historic events that took place at the time of your culmination in College. You will bring with you these marks of distinction wherever you will be. Because of you, the college has embarked substantial resources and expertise to upgrade the state of educational services. You have inspired and challenged us. Our efforts are now bearing fruits. You are the fruits which we are proud of. As you join a new niche of your lives as professionals, you will be guided by our wisdom, hopes and fervent prayers for a brighter tomorrow. Congratulations! Good Luck and God Bless! CHARLES C. VILLANUEVA, Ed. D. Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean, Teacher Education and Liberal Arts Department

Dear Graduates, Peace and Love!

N

ote that graduation rite is also called commencement exercise. The two are not exactly the same but they describe the two poles of this

important event in your life. The first highlights the past, i.e., your achievement and accomplishment of the requirements demanded of a college education, while the second underlines the future, i.e., the new challenges that you have to face after receiving the diploma. The first marks the end of a new phase in your student life, while the second reminds you of a new beginning. Graduation is like sending you off to a mission after years of preparation. Remember that the success of your education is not so much measured by the medals and citation (or for most of you, the longed for college diploma) you received but by the life you will lead after you have left the portals of this great institution, the Aklan Catholic College. Will you be men and women continuously seeking, loving, and serving the truth for the glory of God and the good of humankind? This is my prayer for all of you: May you remain constant and firm in your desire for what is true and good; and may the good Lord be your strength and consolation when you feel so alone and weak, your light and inspiration to move on when things go so rough and confused, and your companion and friend in moments of joy and in moments of success. Good luck and God bless! REV. FR. ARNALDO U. CRISOSTOMO Dean, Religious Education Department

G

racias a Dios! The new Law administration that started in 2004, has been noted for its being “first”. For the first time in the history of the

College of Law, there were three successful examinees in the 2004 Bar Examinations, to wit: FLOSEMER CHRIS I. GONZALES, RICARDO C. IBARRETA, JR., and

LINA S. CANDOLETA. For the first time also, three of the 2005 graduates finished with honors: SYLVANO F. SARABIA (Magna Cum Laude), GIOVANNI PAUL I. GOMEZ (Magna Cum Laude), and DANGAL Z. NADUA (Cum Laude). These young men and women therefore deserved to be congratulated for having chosen one of the most prestigious and noble professions of all times, one of the three ancient or classical professions antedating the era of St. Thomas Aquinas of the twelfth century; from Mucius Scaevola of Greece, Justinian of Rome, Napoleon of France, Sanchez Roman of Spain and in our time, our very own Supreme Court Justice Hilario G. Davide, Jr. To get the percentage of national bar passers, is an authentic evidence that the standard of our school has greatly improved. My legal advice to the new graduates and those who have already graduated is to take the Bar Examinations now. Since law courses are prospective, there are always amendments and revisions of law and jurisprudence. Congratulations, God bless, and good luck.

our life has again reached another turning point. Goodbyes are for the four corners of this prestigious educational institution. Leaving brings sweet

tears in your eyes. But welcome to the real world of business-survival of the fittest, well-developed individuals get the best chance to have the best of life. Bear in mind, however, that the struggles and hardships you had gone through were but challenges and trials that had molded you into such young professionals as you see yourself right now. As the old saying goes, “Gold is tested by fire”, so is success. It is tested by obstacles and threats. Be thankful to God and everyone who loved and supported your studies especially your parents and benefactors. In your time, reciprocate good deeds and keep your journey at the right direction. Good luck, God bless you.

I

say with the sincerest heart and the proudest voice that your batch is one of the best groups of students that had ever passed through the portals of

this College. Your collective achievement—academically-related or otherwise—were

marked, “Excellent,” not only in the halls of this school but also in other places where these honors were tried and tested, and eventually given recognition. You made your alma mater very proud of you and thus, full of hope that these feats would continue on motivating you to do better in the professional world. As you now bade your College adieu, may its myriad and remarkable teachings, and the life experiences you have gained along the way, will inspire you for a lifetime. Indeed, wherever you go from here and whatever you will further become, you are forever an Aklan Catholic Collegian.
