Astrology Is The Eye of Wisdom Spiritual Astrology He handed a manuscript over to me one day and asked me to go home and edit it. I returned home and opened it only to find a book on astrology. After an initial hesitation I started with the book. There were subjects like Yogic Philosophy and Jyotish, how Jyotish is related to the flow of life force and Jyotish and Karma. Moreover, it also had certain anecdotes of predictive astrology drawn from his own experience. During my childhood days I never learnt spiritual astrology and as I started reading through the book it gradually became clear to me "Jyotish is para vidya, the eye of wisdom, demonstrable knowledge, not a bread winning subject." Later when I wrote “Karma and Rebirth in Hindu Astrology" I tried to provide all the information based on his discussion and analysis. During the twilight of his life, he renounced astrology and the manuscript got stolen as well. As a result, I took to writing on this subject and in the preface of my book I have acknowledged this fact in unambiguous terms. One day he discussed my horoscope and predicted that I would relinquish life after practicing astrology on international level. He was a Yogi from each and every aspect. His physical stature, his style of resting, his diet and his self-control— all reflected the essential values of being a Yogi. I never saw him fall sick. One day he said to me that whatever the ailment is, fasting for a day or two and drinking Ganga Jal can cure it better than anything else. In course of my work I was transferred to Patna once and when he heard about it he said something that proved to be correct at a later stage. He stated, “There will be political agitation, a sort of revolution, in eastern India and especially in Bihar. But you will be safe as I will create a Muhurta for you which will protect you from the raging fire all around.” It was the perfect blend of Muhurta and mundane astrology. Shortly afterwards his prediction came true. Jaya Prakash Narayan started a political agitation which continued from 1972 to 1975 and during that time witnessing violent incidents became a part of my daily routine. Once he said “These people cannot even understand Indira Gandhi’s horoscope. She will crush everyone in her zest for power and would be remembered as one of the greatest leaders the world has ever produced.” Almost all astrologers at that time had opined that Indira Gandhi would one day become a Member of Parliament but surely not the Prime Minister. In my book, The Nehru Dynasty I have stated that all the important decisions taken by Indira Gandhi were dictated by Nakshatras and Muhurtas that were preferred by Tantriks.
