Valesha Province, Secretary
The Women’s Club Basketball team traveled to NC State February 7-8th to participate in the 2020 Raleigh Rumble Tournament. We started off strong on Saturday, defeating UNC White and UNC Greensboro – both by a large margin. We then fell in a close contest to NC State Black, ending 2-1 on the day. We were placed as the 4th seed of 13 teams going into the tournament Sunday. Well rested, we defeated UNC White once again, in a close contest that came down to clutch free-throws from veteran player Courtney Burkhard. However, we fell to a talented Clemson team in the following round, which sent us home.

photo credit: George, Steven We came into that weekend with 7 healthy players and showed a lot of effort and teamwork. Our numbers are lacking this semester, but we’re making up for it with strategic game plans, team work and a lot of energy. Our next competition is a home-debut March 28-29th at the Student Recreation Center on campus. We have a lot of time in between for practice and improvement. A total of 10 teams signed up, and are excited to showcase our new playing style and have a home-court advantage.
