Master of Science in genetic counseling

The master’s program in genetic counseling at the College of Health Solutions at Arizona State University offers an engaging, comprehensive curriculum that prepares graduates for a career as a genetic counselor. You will gain the knowledge and skills necessary to advance your understanding of genetics and genomic-related conditions within your patients’ and clients’ communities. Students will be prepared to counsel patients across the lifespan on the impact of a genetic diagnosis for themselves and their families.

Learn from experts in the field of genetic counseling and get first-hand knowledge from genetic counselors specializing in preconception counseling and general, prenatal, pediatric, cancer, neuro and cardio genetics. The progressive program includes a curriculum built around the Practice-Based Competencies from the Accreditation Council for Genetic Counseling. The curriculum includes supplemental and advocacy experiences where you can interact with individuals affected by hereditary conditions and work with genetic counselors employed in non-traditional roles, such as commercial laboratory settings.

This program can be completed in two years as a full-time student. Upon completing the program, you will be ready to take the American Board of Genetic Counseling certification exam and pursue a job as a genetic counselor.
