The School of Art, housed in the Art Building, is ranked 15th in the nation by U.S. News & World Report. The Harry Wood Art Gallery showcases student and faculty work throughout the year.
Design North + South The Design School 810 S. Forest Mall (Forest/University)
The Design North Building is home to the Design Library and research and special project rooms, including design studios, graduate student studio workspace, lighting laboratory, solar instrumentation laboratory and a solar roof work area that doubles as a daylight testing area. Red Square focuses on changing exhibitions that feature top student work for each semester, as well as faculty research and design projects. The prototype/
modeling shop is a supervised resource that supports all design disciplines, research and special projects.
The Design South Building boasts the Gallery of Design on the first level. The Digital Lab, in the basement of the building, gives students access to computer-controlled laser cutters, 3-D printers (including two ZCorp printers) and a large-scale scanner.
The School of Art offers a large visual resources collection, which serves as a resource to the art history and art education disciplines, and an archive of Master of Fine Arts thesis exhibitions.
Stauffer Communication Arts B School of Arts, Media and Engineering 950 S. Forest Mall (Forest/9th)
Stauffer B is home to the School of Arts, Media and Engineering. The computer lab is equipped for digital media creation with fast computers and media applications. Fifteen dedicated 27” Apple iMac computers are equipped with the latest media software, such as Apple Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, Ableton Live, Cycling ‘74
Max/MSP, Adobe Creative Suite and more. The Gallery Lounge serves as a research space and a tutoring center. The digital fabrication lab is a 3D CAD/CAM development studio, with Dell Precision workstations that run software such as Rhino 3D for digital model design.
Nelson Fine Arts Center School of Music, Dance and Theatre
The Nelson Fine Arts Center is home to the Paul V. Galvin Playhouse, a 485-seat proscenium theatre hosting theatre productions, dance concerts and film screenings for the School of Music, Dance and Theatre and The Sidney Poitier New American Film
School. Also located in the Fine Arts Center are the school’s theatre scenic, costume and lighting shops, the Dance Laboratory studio and FAC 133, a black box theatre space. The center is also home to the ASU Art Museum.

The Music Building houses the Evelyn Smith Music Theatre, music classrooms and practice rooms, the Rafael Mendez Library Museum, recital halls, the Music Research Facility, Katzin Concert Hall and Organ Hall, home of the handcarved, 1,800-pipe Fritts Organ. In addition to the outstanding concert halls, the School of Music, Dance
and Theatre has four electronic music studios, music education and therapy labs, a costume shop, piano repair shops, more than 200 studios and practice rooms, several multimedia classrooms and the ASU Libraries’ Music Library. You can also find music administrative offices and the school director office in the Music Building.

The Bulldog Hall and Sun Devil Hall are home to the School of Music, Dance and Theatre, theatre and dance program. The facilities feature dance studios and performance spaces, faculty offices, classrooms, laboratories
and gymnasiums. The Margaret Gisolo Dance Studio is located in the Bull Dog Hall and is one of the only dance studios in the country designed with interactive multimedia and telematic features.
ASU Art Museum

Named “the single most impressive venue for contemporary art in Arizona” by Art in America magazine, the ASU Art Museum presents contemporary art in interactive formats, with emphasis on new ideas and media. The museum
showcases contemporary artists, both regional and international, with a focus on Latin American art, and houses award-winning contemporary art and print collections. Exhibitions change seasonally, and admission is always free.

Ceramics Research Center and Brickyard Gallery

The Ceramics Research Center is one of the most extensive 20th-century studio ceramics collections in the world. This is one of only a handful of facilities in the world that combine access to an extensive ceramics collection, significant archival research materials and exhibition space. The office building is the new home to several Herberger Institute programs and ASU departments, with the Herberger Institute gallery in the main first-floor lobby where students can showcase work. The second floor houses The Design School studio programs, including Innovation Space, Masters of Design and the Masters of Innovation and Venture Development.

Grady Gammage Memorial Auditorium stands as one of ASU’s most beautiful landmarks. Best known as the last major architectural design of Frank Lloyd Wright, the auditorium was completed in 1964. ASU Gammage is the largest university-based presenter of performing arts in the world. ASU Gammage also produces new works, artist residencies and educational programs that foster the great artists of today and empower the artists of tomorrow.

The 16-floor building and 283,000-squarefoot project, which opened in fall 2021, houses more than 500 students in the top 13 floors. The first three floors offer academic space for Herberger Institute programs in popular music and fashion. It also adds to the Valleywide network of ASU Entrepreneurship and Innovation co-working, event and exhibition spaces.

The world-class Media and Immersive eXperience (MIX) Center, part of the ASU at Mesa City Center complex, is home to The Sidney Poitier New American Film School, plus classes in digital media technology, worldbuilding, experience design and gaming from The Design School and the School of Arts, Media and Engineering.
The ASU California Center at the Herald Examiner Building provides students from all of ASU’s campuses the opportunity to make connections within Los Angeles and engage industries through jobs and internships and expands access to education with undergraduate and graduate degree programs, workshops and events.
