Out with the old, in with the new... With the arrival of the New Year, the rituals of resolutions and change are inevitable. Some resolutions are broken quickly - the diets that we embrace are often abandoned in favor of that slice of pie - or that second slice of pie. The vow to exercise often goes by the wayside with the first muscle ache, or that second slice of pie. Some resolutions hang around a little while longer. We return to work from the holiday break with a renewed attitude and outlook that is encouraged with the knowledge that Spring

Arkansas State University - Newport is just weeks away - especially if the groundhog cooperates. We smile more, laugh more, and savor that second slice of pie that serves as comfort food on a cold winter’s day. Often, the changes and resolutions that stick are the ones that are the most appealing. One of those changes is the format of our monthly newsletter. We certainly hope that our readers approve. Work Progresses on Marked Tree Hub Construction continues to progress on the new “Hub” dining facility on the Marked Tree campus. Scheduled to open in late spring, the facility will serve hot meals, pizza, salads, panini, burgers and many other items for students, faculty and staff.

ASUN Chancellor Dr. Sandra Massey visits with former ASU-Beebe Chancellor Dr. Eugene McKay at a Jan. 8 reception honoring his service to the college. McKay retired in Jan. after serving as ASU-Beebe’s Chancellor for 50 years.

Before Joining ASUN, Keith worked at NicePak of Jonesboro as a Manufacturing Engineer. He received both his B.S. and M.S. from A-State and taught there part time for the past five years. Both his wife and his daughter are also instructors at A-State.

Before joining ASU-Newport, Keely was a graduate assistant at Arkansas State University.

A Jonesboro native, Sarah received her B.S. and her M.S. from Arkansas State University, and her Ph.D. from Texas Tech. Before joining ASUN, she worked for Louisiana Universities Marine Consortium studying the effects of oil spills on marine species.

Before joining ASU-Newport, Matthew worked as an Automotive Technician for Central Buick/GMC in Jonesboro.

Alan is a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and A-State Red Wolves and has a five year-old granddaughter and a grandson on the way.

She is married to her elementary school sweetheart, and they are the proud parents of four fur babies!

She enjoys spending her free time gardening, cooking, canning, camping, hiking and performing animal rescue work.

Matthew enjoys spending time with his family, and he and his wife are expecting their first child this spring!

A graduate of Weiner High School, Keely received her BS in Psychology and her MS in College Student Personnel Services from A-State.

An ASUN alum, he received his Associates Degree in Automotive Services Technology on the Marked Tree campus.
