Allah’s Throne... your heart! BISMILA-HIR RAHMA-NIR RAHIM
Asalaamu Aleikum Greetings in the name of Allah the Most Merciful and He who has Compassion on those who are out of the way. May the sweet peace of Allah be with you today. May you have a knowledge of His Word as well as have His Word abiding in you! An earthly king has a dominion, a throne and the subjects of his kingdom know the extent of his kingdom. But what about Allah’s Throne? How far does Allah’s Throne extend? How far does it reach? The Honored Qur’an gives us the answer… ‘His Throne doth extend over the heavens and the earth…He is the Most High, the Supreme in glory.’ Sura 2:255 Al-Baqara In the Zabor the prophet Dawd tells us… “The LORD hath prepared his throne in the heavens; and his kingdom ruleth over all.” Psalms 103:19 Zabor Clearly it reveals that Allah’s dominion extends over all the created universe. Yet there is one place where He is not able to rule, in all the expanse of the universe there is yet one place where He is not able to plant His banner. But where is that domain? It is none other than the unwilling human heart. The Taurat again tells us that the human “heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked, who can know it?” Jeremiah 17:9 The unrenewed human heart has no place for Allah, for His rule is foreign to them. The Choice is ours! Because Allah will not force Himself upon anyone, therefore we are free to choose who will be our Master. Force is not used in Allah’s Kingdom, remember what Isa said regarding His kingdom? ‘Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.’ Injeel John 18:36 Notice the words from the Honored Qur’an. Sura 2:256 “Let there be no compulsion in religion: Truth stands out clear from Error: whoever rejects evil and believes in Allah hath grasped the most trustworthy hand–hold, that never breaks.” The Kingdom of Allah needs no human hands to force it upon it’s subjects. Those who become subjects to this kingdom do so willingly, without any external force. The question we pose today is, who rules on the throne of your heart? Is Allah there, or is ‘selfish’ self upon the throne? This is an honest question which each of us ought to ask ourselves often. Who is really in charge of my life. Is Allah or am I in charge? Often the members of one’s family can tell you what kind of person you are to live with. Are you kind and compassionate? Do you often lose your temper, get angry at the children and throw things around in a fury? Or is there peace in your heart consistently? What kind of words are spoken daily? Are they harsh words, or are they peaceful and helpful words. What spirit rules in your heart?
Can the heart be changed? Yes but not of it’s self. To have a change of the human heart requires submission to Allah. Only He can change the human heart from one of wickedness to that of kindness and l“Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots? then may ye also do good, that are accustomed to do evil.” Taurat Jeremiah 13:23 Try as we will under our human effort apart from Allah, we can neither change our hearts nor work our way to heaven through good works. But Allah is still in the business of miracles, and it takes a miracle to change the human heart. To do this we must submit. We need to give Allah permission to have Him rule in our hearts. From the time of the fall of Adam in the garden of bliss, our hearts and thoughts are impure and deceitful and we cannot trust them. Iblis has corrupted our hearts with evil and sin. But whosoever will turn to Allah can have his heart renewed.
How is the human heart changed? In the Taurat it tells us plainly that the human heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked, who can know it? Jeremiah 17:9 Yet the promise in the Injeel tells of those who are blessed who are “pure in heart” for “they shall see God”. Injeel Matthew 5:8. It is more than obvious that a change must take place before the human heart can become pure and the motives upright! Allah has provided the means as to how this is to be accomplished. Many years ago Allah sent someone who was like Him in character. It was the One who was sent down…from all eternity Isa al-Masih (Christ) was united with God, and when He took upon Himself human nature, He was still one with God. He is the link that unites Allah with humanity. “Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he [Isa al-Masih] also himself likewise took part of the same” Injeel (Hebrews 2:14). Only through Isa al-Masih can we become children of God. To all who believe on Him, He gives power to become the sons of Allah. Thus through this ‘link’ Isa al-Masih, the human heart becomes the temple of the living God. It is because Christ took human nature that men and women become partakers of the divine nature. He brings life and immortality to light through the gospel. Thus by receiving Him (Isa) who was sent down, by accepting this gift, a transformation takes place in our hearts and Allah will rule upon the throne of the human heart. Our entire lives change, from one of sinfulness to one of wanting to do good deeds and unselfish acts of kindness to all around us. Dear friend, do you desire Allah to be seated upon the throne of your heart? Do you wish to put an end to the evil and sinful acts which you do in your life? Do you want wicked thoughts to no longer control your life? Yes, it all can be done, today accept Christ the sin bearer [al-fida] into your heart. Ask Isa al-Masih to come into your heart and give you a new life, a new life in Christ. Years ago, ancient Israel chose another master, they turned away from Allah and chose Iblis [Satan] instead of Allah. The Lord declares, “O Israel, thou hast destroyed thyself.” “Hear, O earth: behold, I will bring evil upon this people, even the fruit of their thoughts, because they have not hearkened unto My words, nor to My law, but rejected it.” Taurat Hosea 13:9; Jeremiah 6:19. Isa seeks to restore peace into our troubled minds. Isa is the One who will bring in a new conscience into our lives. We will then seek to be pure and lovely in character. This new heart comes as a result of committing the life to Isa al-Masih who was given to us from Allah. Today dear friend let nothing hinder you from accepting this precious gift from Heaven. Taste and see if Allah will not bless you through Isa al-Masih sent for you!
How do I begin? Find a quiet place, one where you will not soon be disturbed. Then offer a personal prayer (du’a) to Allah asking Him through Isa al-Masih to reveal Himself to you in a special way. Ask Him to give you peace and a new heart, new thoughts and new actions. Ask Him to rule in the throne of your heart. Allah loves to answer such a prayer of faith. Some may ask, but I am afraid, what should I do? Often in the Holy Books [the Taurat and Injeel], when Allah sent an angel to those upon earth, the first words spoken were “fear not” or “do not be afraid”. Allah will guide you if we are willing to be guided into truth. Dear friend of Allah today, invite Him to a closer friendship with you than you have ever known. He longs to be your friend and He longs to reveal to you Isa al-Masih the sacrifice for sin. Experience His peace today. May Allah richly bless you and bring you comfort during these difficult days upon earth.
