Allah’s Book Al-Maeda 44 (Sura 5:44) R.M. Harnisch
Is the Bible the Word of Allah? Can the Bible be trusted? Is it the Word from Allah? These are questions which we are often asked today by many people, Muslims around the world are asking this important question. How can we know? Are the Bible Scriptures truly sent from Allah? Before we search for answers and I invite the reader to send a prayer (du’a) to Allah, for Allah knows best. He will provide the answer which inquiring people are asking with sincerity the world over! Allah will always answer important questions as this when the request is from an earnest appeal to know truth. Sometimes we may find answers to a question by asking another question, ‘How does the Honored Qur’an regard the Holy Books of the Bible Scriptures’? What does it say about the “Taurat” and the “Injeel” [the Bible Scriptures]? We invite the reader to turn to the Honored Qur’an and find the following passages: “And remember We gave Moses the Scripture and the Criterion (Between right and wrong): There was a chance for you to be guided aright.” Sura 2:53 Al-Baqara “It is He Who sent down to thee (step by step), in truth, the Book, confirming what went before it; and He sent down the Law (of Moses)[Taurat] and the Gospel (of Jesus)[Injeel] before this, as a guide to mankind, and He sent down the criterion (of judgment between right and wrong).” Sura 3:3 Aal-E-Imran The Honored Qur’an mentions only one ‘Criterion’ for the Judgment, and that is the Holy Scriptures the Taurat. In the Taurat we find the basis for the Judgment, called the Ten Commandments. This is the foundation of the government of Heaven. It is the Holy and Just Law of Allah. It is found recorded in the (Taurat) Exodus chapter 20:1-17 ‘In the past We granted to Moses and Aaron the criterion (for judgment) [Taurat], and a Light and a Message for those who would do right’. Sura 21:48 Al-Anbiya Here it reveals in the Honored Qur’an that the Taurat is a Light and a Message to those who do right. How dare anyone disregard this admonition? Would it not be a fearful thing to suggest that the Taurat is not Allah’s Word? How would anyone stand in the great Judgment with thinking such as this? “If thou wert in doubt as to what We have revealed unto thee, then ask those who have been reading the Book [The Holy Books of the Bible Scriptures] from before thee: the Truth hath indeed come to thee from thy Lord: so be in no wise of those in doubt.” Sura 10:94 Yunus Here it calls the Bible scripture “the Truth”! Here in this passage the Honored Qur’an is asking the desert prophet to “ask” those who have been reading the Book (Bible Scriptures) from before thee. Why does the Honored Qur’an, which tradition tells us came from Allah, to direct our attention to those who honor the Bible? ‘It was We who revealed the law (to Moses): therein was guidance and light. By its standard have been judged the Jews, by the prophets who bowed (as in Islam) to Allah’s will, by the rabbis and the doctors of law: for to them was entrusted the protection of Allah’s book, and they were witnesses thereto: therefore fear not men, but fear me, and sell not my signs for a miserable price. If any do fail to judge by (the light of) what Allah hath revealed, they are (no better than) Unbelievers.’ Sura 5:44 Al-Maeda These are just some of the many ayats listed in the Honored Qur’an which testify that the Taurat and the Injeel were sent down from Allah and are for all people (Mankind). Here in the ayat we just read it calls the Taurat “Allah’s Book”. All the prophets who come along were bound by these same laws which were given by the former prophets. “And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.” 1 Corinthians 14:32 God has used one means of communication with man through the prophetic gift given to the prophets of old. “…Now to him who is able to establish you by my gospel and the proclamation of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery hidden for long ages past, but now revealed and made known through the prophetic writings by the command of the eternal God, so that all nations might believe and obey him-- Romans 16:25-26 “Beloved… remember the words having been spoken before by the holy prophets …” 2 Peter 3:1-2 Some would be quick to respond and to argue that the Bible has been altered or corrupted, that it no longer can be trusted? To this statement, we ask a simple question. If the Bible had been altered before the time of Mohammed to the point that it would no longer be trusted, then why did the desert prophet point to it so profusely? Would Allah direct the desert prophet to a false or corrupted book? But if the Bible Scriptures were corrupted since the time of the desert prophet, then where are the manuscripts which are true? No one has been able to show such manuscripts because there are none. The same Bible Scriptures which were available in the time of Mohammed are the same ones which are still available today. Remember Allah is well able to keep His Words from being corrupted so that man today may know Allah’s will. Besides all this, who would be able to undertake the task of finding all the Bible manuscripts to bring them together to alter and falsify them? Think seriously about this dear reader! The counsel in the Injeel still stands true today. (Injeel) Luke 4:4 ‘And Jesus (Isa al-Masih) answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God [Allah]’.
We can safely trust His Word, I have a personal testimony of what Allah’s Word, the Bible has done for me. Studying this Book changes your life. In the pages of the Bible is a power, an energy which is given to those who take the time to become familiar with the contents. The changes are very apparent. To him who submits to the Words of Allah will find that you acquire new tastes, new thoughts, new feelings, new motives will direct your life. All this happens when you submit to Allah and His Word sent down. (Injeel) John 6:63 ‘It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.’ Isa al-Masih said plainly the words are ‘spirit’ and ‘life’. Wise men from the East of ancient times saw the value of Allah’s Word. (Taurat) Job 22:22 “Receive, I pray thee, the law from his mouth, and lay up his words in thine heart.” Again Job (Ayub) the ancient wise man from long ago tells us that…“neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.” (Taurat) Job 23:12 Dear friends we need not fear that Allah’s Word would be corrupted. Is Allah not infinite in power? Can He not be trusted to keep His Word complete for us today? It is Allah who sustains all of nature, it is He who provides for all the multitudes of people on earth. It is Allah who keeps galaxies in orbit and keeps unnumbered millions of stars swirling in outer space, to keep them from crashing into each other, how simple of a matter is it that He should also be able to keep His Word sent down, in tact. Indeed this is an easy matter for Allah. Sura 35:11 Fatir ‘The word of thy Lord doth find its fulfilment in truth and in justice: None can change His words: for He is the one who heareth and knoweth all.’ Sura 6:115 Al-Anaam “And recite (and teach) what has been revealed to thee of the Book of thy Lord: none can change His Words, and none wilt thou find as a refuge other than Him.” Sura 18:27 Al-Kahf Unfortunately many have made the Word of Allah of none effect through tradition handed down without any foundation in the Holy Books. All too many listen to the scholars who teach contrary about the Taurat and Injeel than what has been revealed in the Honored Qur’an. We need to be very careful lest the words of warning apply to us. (Injeel) Mark 7:13 “Making the word of God (Allah) of none effect through your tradition…” These words of warning from Isa al-Masih apply to us as much as to those of that day. May we heed the warning. How dreadful the day, when we should find that we have made of none effect the Words of Allah! Friends now more than ever it is time to give special attention to the Word sent down to us (Taurat and Injeel). Daily let it’s words sink deeply into our souls. May Allah change your life so that you too can testify that these are indeed the Words from Allah. These words will prepare us to face the future unafraid. These will prepare us to stand through the Judgment! (Injeel) 2 Timothy 3:16-17 “All scripture is given by inspiration of God [Allah], and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness. That the man of God [Allah] may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.” “The grass withers, the flower fades; but the Word of our God shall stand forever.” Taurat Isaiah 40:8 The promise of Allah is that these words will stand the test of time and are for ever. The Word of Allah as is recorded in the Taurat and Injeel is the ‘Test’, whether or not any messenger teaches truth. (Taurat) Isaiah 8:20 “To the Law and to the Testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.” Text Copied from DivineIslam’s Qur’an Viewer software v2.913
