P u b l i s h e r’ s N o t e Defeated by the cities and divorced from the earth, butterflies dream of unpolluted streams and forests. Butterflies are the most beautiful symbols of our living planet. They are threatened by urbanization, industrial development, modern farming methods and use of weed killers and insecticides. Butterfly photography is apt homage to an age of innocence. In an era concerned with ecological preservation, butterflies are the best possible reminder of what is worth preserving. Aswin Alex is an Advertising photographer and Film maker, India. His tryst with

photography stemmed from his appreciation of this art form. No other

mundane beauty can excel that of the butterflies make it one of the most interesting subjects to photograph. Its easy access to naked eye does not signify its viability to camera eyes, as its wings are never at rest even at the slightest serenity. When

the

beauty of nature is increasingly being given a backseat due to

concentration of life, this book is an attempt to open a new vista to people's perception of butterflies and a call for live in harmony with nature.
