INSTORE APPLICATION / TERRACOM Architecture for background music in retail shops RTP = Real-time Transport Protocol is a standard packet format for delivering audio over IP networks. RTP supports data transfer to multiple destinations through multicast.

SIP = Session Initiation Protocol is a standard protocol to initiate a communication. It is often used by the IP telephone.

PoE = Power Over Ethernet technology describes a system to pass electrical power safely, along with data, on Ethernet cabling.

SNMP = Simple Network Management Protocol is a standard protocol for managing devices on IP networks.

LAN = A Local Area Network is a computer network in a limited geographical area. There are usually no router in such a network.

TERRACOM Overview As a new level of Inter-company Audio & Communication System; TERRACOM presents an innovative IP/SIP based intercom system that has NO centralized equipment or matrix. The network itself is the switching matrix over local network and internet. TERRACOM also communicates with traditional phone and IP phone systems over network.

Audio streaming TERRACOM offers the possibility for audio streaming using standard RTP protocol in unicast, multicast or broadcast. For In-Store applications, TERRACOM streaming using shoutcast/ icecast protocols.

PoE benefits All TERRACOM devices support POE, Power Over Ethernet With POE, the constraint of having AC power outlets is eliminated. This provides flexibility in placing TERRACOM devices in various locations.

Optimal placement leads to more efficient network designs and better application performance. The network installation can be accomplished easier, faster and for less cost. It is also safer because you can centralize the power management and protect it with an UPS(uninterruptible power supply). And finally with a manageable PoE LAN switch via web browser or SNMP, remote networking devices can be easily reset or shut down to save the time and expense of dispatching a technician.

Management TERRACOM embeds a web server that enables you to control the TERRACOM through your favorite internet browser. For bigger systems, you can use SNMP protocol. For more complex system, the TerraServer will be your supervisor and the management solution of your installation(Firefox web browser is suggested).

TerraServer is an audio distribution system for Public Address and evacuation purposes which rest on an Ethernet/IP networking architecture. It is capable of making microphone calls, starting prerecorded messages or routing music through the network from a central based server and/or operator unit.

Client Ends

The In-Store function enables users to make prearrangements for the audio sources and to apply the sources to all Terra devices. The sources include music files, radio channels, pre-recorded massages.

Its date and time can be configured and be carried out in a few easy steps via TerraServer. The application is popular amount chains store as it is a time saving and convenience technique when it comes to large device application.

TerraManager is an integrated controller designed for controlling all ATEÏS products including TERRACOM and IDA8. The system can perform paging or message playing to all zones of devices via LAN/ Internet which supports both Microsoft Windows and Linux.

TerraManager (hereafter referred to the system) can work with touch screen and provide users GUI components used to control IDA8, ECS, TERRACOM, etc. The system features performing Paging (Unicast/Multicast/Broadcast), Full-Duplex Intercom, Routing, Message Playing, Scheduler, TTS SVE(Text To Speech - Synthetic Voice Engine), Device I/O Monitoring and Volume Control (3rd party), just to name a few.

TerraManager/System Overview TerraManager provides user interface switching between “Edit Mode” for function adding or parameter adjustments, and “Operation Mode” for operating. The system defines “zone” as an area or region for audio outputs in IDA8, TERRACOM or other ATEÏS devices, and defines “source” as audio sources that come from ATEÏS products.

TerraManager supports configurable control panel layout, priority and parameters preset, protocol selections and remote device management in volume, threshold, network interface. Highly secured system designed features password setting, auto data storage and back up for devices/users. Multi-languages system interfaces is a must, including English, Chinese, Dutch, French and can be customized depending on users' needs.

Logical Model Description TerraManager is an independent application program which operates on any computers that support Java Virtual Machine (JVM). The following is the schematic:

TerraManager TerraManager APPLICATION SOFTWARE FOR PAVA & BGM TerraManager introduces zone button and image/map integration which replaces "zone button" with actual map/product images that enable users with direct impression toward targeted zones.

By inserting the ideal images /maps under TerraManager “image zone” to create an image button link with targeted zone that can be pressed or clicked by users. Users are encouraged to customize the button style, size and the targeted zones in the operation mode. The integration can be applied in diverse situations, from a medium size educational institution or multi-floor building, to a large-scale of stadium with several regions, users can easily separate each area into different layers. Under each layers, users are able to create more image buttons for different targeted zones. Layers are connected together via “panel link” button which offers users with a clear and organized layout for operation.

TerraManager presents the kind of integration dedicating in offering users an intuitive visual browsing interface and direct impression layout which benefits users to local the targeted zones in no time. With high flexibility in button design and system configurations, TerraManager had striven a further performance with TERRACOM devices.

GUI Components

Device I/O Monitoring & Central Control

In the system, all zones are created into corresponding buttons. Each of the button displays 3 indications, including text, color and LED light.

The upper half of the button displays button name and the lower half displays status indication. The color displays priority (purple as in higher priority/green as in lower priority that can be occupied by other devices with higher priorities) and distinguishes paging zones (selected buttons/ unselected buttons). LED lights indicate device status including connected, disconnected and fault for user references.

The system enables users to monitor or manage device status with the click of a mouse. When having considerable quantities of devices, TerraManager displays all the device information on a table view, such as online/offline, line-occupied/line-available and parameter adjustments, as well as providing central control, such as preset scheduler, group paging, real-time 3rd party control capabilities for users.

Paging (Unicast/ Multicast/ Broadcast) TerraManager System performs live paging, record live paging and record functions in the control panel page. Users can easily select the desired paging locations with a mouse clicked. With the system, background music playing and pre-chime/postchime functions are supported when preforming unicast/multicast paging or broadcasting over LAN/Internet.

Intercom Full- Duplex Intercom can be achieved among TERRA devices over LAN/Internet. For larger applications, zone buttons provide quick access for users in selecting desired locations.

Preset Scheduler TerraManager provides users to organize audio sources from TERRA devices or pre-recorded files into a list of resources that can be used in various performances, such as preset scheduler.

Advance Scheduler management in the system enables users to run multiple sources in different timing/zones without interrupting each other. Month, week, day, hour, repeat times and starting time are adjustable depending on users' needs.

Background Music and Message Routing The software allows users to route either messages or background music to other channels/devices with a few mouse clicks. The input sources can either be music/radio that come from other devices or pre-recorded messages base on users' requirements. Routing offers users with real-time notification ability or alerts for certain events/situations.

TERRA-IO / I/O IP Terminal The TERRA-IO is a TERRACOM device without audio inputs & outputs. Although it can be used in Audio applications where you will need a lot of analog I/O, the contact inputs and the contact outputs will be useful in industrial & home automation applications for monitoring contact closures. The serial link can be used for IP tunneling between a PC and a device as a sensor for tele-monitoring. Thanks to the SNMP, the management is adapted in larger systems.

In this example schematic, The TERRA-IO is used as an access controller to detect intruders and to trigger alarms. The temperature sensor linked with RS232 to the TERRA-IO and will send its status to a server which allow the control center to activate procedures when errors occur. The serial link can be used for IP tunneling between a PC and a device like a sensor for tele-monitoring. With contact I/Os and serial link, the TERRA-IO is the ideal platform for monitoring contact closures and integration with home and office appliances.

TERRACOM architecture for public address- background music The live announcements are done with a dedicated IP console (PPM-IT5), or microphones plugged on TERRA-IEX or TERRA-AMP or TERRA-FDX. The selection of the destination of the announcement is done directly on the PPM-IT5 touch screen or on a PC with a TerraServer client application.

The background music is stored on the TerraServer or can also be a hardware source like a CD player

plugged on a TERRA-IEX. For the output only terminal like TERRA-EX or a TERRA-EXA are required when only amplified outputs are needed. All the priority managements are done by the TerraServer.

TERRACOM architecture for Intercom – Background music Nowadays, there are no really limitations between Intercom & PA BGM. You can then decide to have a TerraServer or not, depending on the complexity of the system needs. Here is an example without a

server. The background music will come from a hardware device like the processor UAPG2 plugged on a TERRA-IEX. Then the priority management is done by the TERRACOM devices themselves.

With audio over IP solutions, the Terra software provides pre-recorded messages and background music playing over a standard Internet connection in advance to shops, shopping malls or any desired locations around the world. Its messages and audio sources can be programmed before time and be stored in any Terra devices with a USB port.

With the TERRACOM architecture, an user-friendly interface required few people in operation which makes it a cost effective and laborsaving solution to customers.

Uploading status are visible to users under history tab, as well as preset schedules modifications can be achieved via the TerraServer, which provide customers to handle worldwide advertising management by overcoming the geographical restrictions and time zones concerns.

Promotion Message management Users are encouraged to upload the desired messages or music onto TerraServer, and have them scheduled in the desired sequences under priority setting, playing dates, repeating times, etc.

Later, users can upload the desired promotion schedules to the selected TERRACOM devices in any targeted locations worldwide over internet and store the setting in advance on any USB Terra devices.

The pre-stored USB lists will be broadcasted according to the schedules in certain areas. Users are welcome to browse through or refresh all device status to get the firsthand information.
