WELCOME SUMMER 2014 Welcome to our Summer season at the Waterside Theatre. We hope you find there’s something for everyone in our packed programme of events as we receive a host of musicals, children’s entertainment, live music, opera, comedy and some of the UK’s best touring productions. Fans of musicals, be sure not to miss Irving Berlin’s classic Annie Get Your Gun in an all new production. Before then we are excited to see Rock of Ages take to the stage after a thriving 5 years on Broadway and 3 years in the West End, starring Ben Richards and Noel Sullivan. Joining the cast of Evita in Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s timeless masterpiece is Marti Pellow, telling the story of Eva Peron from her humble beginnings to extraordinary wealth and power. There’s also the chance to celebrate two music legends; don your dark-rimmed glasses for Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story and practise your moonwalk for Thriller Live, celebrating the life of Michael Jackson and the Jackson 5. The National Theatre returns with One Man, Two Guvnors. The award-winning comedy celebrates British slapstick with a mix of satire, songs and
glittering one-liners. Oscar Wilde’s much-loved and brilliantly witty masterpiece The Importance of Being Earnest direct from the West End on a strictly limited tour, and The Globe return, this time with a large scale showing of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Young theatregoers are invited to help Scooby Doo solve The Mystery of the Pyramid, there are muddy puddles, songs and games in store with Peppa Pig’s Big Splash, and for book-lovers Julia Donaldson’s picture book makes its stage debut with What the Ladybird Heard in a colourful farmyard adventure with live music and puppets. To make your visit truly special, don’t forget to book one of our Ambassador Experience packages, and if you enjoy coming to the theatre on a regular basis, remember you can save money alongside many other benefits by becoming an ATG Theatre Card member. We look forward to seeing you this Summer, and as always, welcome your feedback and suggestions, please contact me on elizabethadlingtonawt@theambassadors.com.
