WELCOME

Welcome to our forthcoming programme at Aylesbury Waterside Theatre. As we enter our 6th year we look forward to a packed season with something for everyone from high-energy musicals, to breath-taking dance and must-see family productions, to a host of live music and comedy shows, not to mention a number of fantastic events in our Second Space. The festive spirit is upon us with this year’s sparkling family pantomime, Dick Whittington starring X Factor winner Sam Bailey, local funny man Andy Collins and X Factor finalist Melanie Masson. Promising slapstick fun, dazzling dance, sensational songs and plenty of audience participation, this panto paved with gold is one not to be missed! New Year sees a new line-up of productions including The Glenn Miller Story starring Tommy Steele; Tom: A Story of Tom Jones. The Musical; a brand new production of Private Lives starring Tom Chambers; and a stunning dance masterpiece from Northern Ballet’s Jane Eyre, not to mention our first visit from renowned contemporary dance company Rambert. Also in the mix are family favourites Annie, The Sound of Music and Goodnight Mister Tom. Remember, we are much more than just a theatre, so be sure to check out our events from Christmas Party Nights, to Big Band Dance Night, and our ever-popular Roller Disco, and don’t forget our Second Space programme of LiveScreenings and Comedy Club.

2

Make the most of your trip to the theatre and book one of our Ambassador Experience packages, and if you enjoy coming to the theatre on a regular basis, remember you can save money alongside many other benefits by becoming an ATG Theatre Card member. We’d like to take this opportunity to thank our patrons for their ongoing support over the last 5 years. Since opening in October 2010 with a gala evening attended by Sir David Suchet, Simon Callow, Tony Christie and the late Cilla Black, we’ve seen over 2,000 performances and played host to a number of award ceremonies, weddings, conferences, and radio and TV recordings. Our theatre team took on their biggest fundraising challenge to date in the Summer, walking 52 miles from Aylesbury to London in 24 hours with the Waterside Whittington Walk. This epic feat resulted in over £6,000 being raised for local charity, Florrie’s Children’s Team. A fantastic achievement marking our 5th Birthday. We look forward to welcoming you for another great year, Aylesbury Waterside Theatre Team

PLUS OTHER WORKS

PRE-SHOW TALK Thu 11 Feb 6.30pm

Britain’s national dance company presents an evening of captivating dance with live orchestral music.

Love, desire and betrayal are the ingredients of the shocking true story which inspired a Picasso masterpiece. In The 3 Dancers, Rambert springs his painting from the canvas to the stage, bringing to life the vivid Cubist imagery and themes of ecstasy and doom that fill the work. Two lovers meet and a dark secret is revealed in Transfigured Night, created by two-time Olivier Award-winning choreographer Kim Brandstrup. A dramatic love story unfolds, with intimate duets and spectacular ensemble dancing amplifying the beauty and romance of its Schoenberg score. Completing the programme is The Strange Charm of Mother Nature, inspired by the science of the cosmos. Dancers fizz with the energy of the miniscule particles that create life, the universe and everything, to music by Bach and Stravinsky.

THE WORLD’S FAVOURITE MURDER MYSTERY

‘THE SHARPEST, SLICKEST SHOW ON THE BLOCK’ THE TIMES

STARRING

The international award-winning Broadway and West End musical, Chicago, comes to Aylesbury starring West End and EastEnders actor John Partridge as Billy Flynn.

The Mousetrap is famous around the world for being the longest-running show of any kind in the history of theatre, with over 26,000 performances in London. This record-breaking 60th anniversary production is back by popular demand in 2016 starring Louise Jameson (Doctor Who, EastEnders, Doc Martin) as Mrs Boyle.

Based on events in the roaring 1920s, nightclub singer Roxie Hart shoots her lover and along with cell block rival, double-murderess Velma Kelly, they fight to keep from death row with the help of smooth talking lawyer, Billy Flynn.

The scene is set when a group of people gathered in a country house cut off by the snow discover, to their horror, that there is a murderer in their midst. Who can it be? One by one the suspicious characters reveal their sordid pasts until at the last, nerve-shredding moment the identity and the motive are finally revealed.

It would be a crime to miss it.

In her own inimitable style, Dame Agatha Christie has created an atmosphere of shuddering suspense and a brilliantly intricate plot where murder lurks around every corner.

Created by the musical theatre talents of John Kander, Fred Ebb and legendary choreographer Bob Fosse, Chicago’s sexy, sassy score includes All That Jazz and Razzle Dazzle.
