W H AT ’ S O N | A P R I L - J U LY 2 0 18 MAMMA MIA! THE ULTIMATE FEEL-GOOD SHOW!

THE GIFT OF GIVING Last year’s panto season saw record-breaking audience numbers as well as a fantastic fundraising achievement thanks to the generosity of theatregoers and everyone who supported our various campaigns. Post-show collections raised £7,486 for local charities, Florence Nightingale Hospice and Roald Dahl’s Children’s Charity. Hundreds of toys were donated to the foyer’s collection station for the Mix 96 Toy Appeal, and a silent auction raised over £100 for the Mayor’s Charity, Inspire All.

FEEL-GOOD SUMMER This summer sees two smash-hit musicals arrive in Aylesbury. Get ready to sing along at the ultimate feel-good party that is MAMMA MIA! plus, enjoy the return of internationally-acclaimed Jersey Boys. Judy Craymer from the MAMMA MIA! creative team and Jersey Boys cast member Lewis Griffiths, who has performed at the Waterside before, are looking forward to ensuring audiences enjoy this summer’s must-see musicals:

Welcome to Aylesbury Waterside Theatre’s Summer 2018 What’s On Guide... We’ve a sizzling summer programme waiting to be enjoyed over the coming months. Our Street Team will be representing the venue at various local events and are looking forward to supporting Aylesbury’s WhizzFizzFest for the second year running. This celebration of children’s literature will take place three weeks before the curtain goes up on children’s book favourite, David Walliams’ Awful Auntie. Highlights this season include Torben Betts’ Monogamy taking centre stage alongside the sunniest of feel-good musicals, MAMMA MIA! Due to popular demand, Jersey Boys returns for an encore performance, and there’s a chance to celebrate local talent following the success of last year’s Stage Experience - this time bringing to life Andrew Lloyd Webber and Jim Steinman’s Whistle Down the Wind.

‘I am thrilled to be coming back to the Waterside. Jersey Boys is a massive production and you’ll certainly know we’re in town when our eight trailers arrive to off-load our set, costumes, props, lighting, sound and staging ready for the first show. I’m genuinely honoured to be gracing the stage of the Aylesbury Waterside Theatre again with our fantastic show and hope audiences enjoy it as much as we’re going to!’ Lewis Griffiths – Starring in Jersey Boys ATGTICKETS.COM/Aylesbury* Box Office 0844 871 7607* A P R I L – J U LY 2 0 1 8

‘It’s very thrilling to be performing MAMMA MIA! at Aylesbury Waterside Theatre for the first time. The story, set on an idyllic Greek island, tells the heart-warming story of a mother and daughter through the irresistible songs of ABBA. I hope the people of Aylesbury will have a fabulous time and join audiences around the world dancing in the aisles.’ Judy Craymer – Producer of MAMMA MIA!

Cilla – The Musical is a spectacular and heart-warming, musical adaptation of the critically-acclaimed ITV mini-series based on the early life of Cilla Black.

The musical score is the ultimate soundtrack to the 60s including Cilla’s greatest hits Anyone Who Had a Heart, Alfie and Something Tells Me, alongside a backdrop of the legendary ‘Liverpool Sound’ including The Beatles’ Twist and Shout, and American influences like California Dreamin’ by The Mamas and The Papas and many more. Kara Lily Hayworth plays Cilla. Following weeks of open auditions up and down the country, Kara fought off thousands of hopefuls to be named as the girl who would step into the legend’s coveted shoes in the first ever musical about the star’s life. Executive Producer and Cilla’s son, Robert Willis, said of Kara: ‘I KNEW SHE WAS THE ONE MY MUM WOULD HAVE WANTED!’ In the role of Brian Epstein is TV and stage favourite Andrew Lancel best known for his portrayal of business man Frank Foster in Coronation Street.
