KNOCK KNOCK... Leas Cliff Hall was delighted to be Door 22 in Folkestone’s Living Advent Calendar, a 24-day free festival of music, drama, opera, storytelling, puppetry and fun, organised by Jim Jam Arts. At 6pm each day from 1 – 24 December, a beautifully decorated door in the town opened to reveal a surprise live performance and, on 22 December, the cast from our panto, Cinderella, provided the perfect Christmas treat for families. A fundraising collection ensured that local charities benefited too.
Welcome to the Leas Cliff Hall and your latest What’s On Guide... Bringing you details of our line-up of great shows for 2018! We look forward to welcoming you over the coming months, either to be entertained by one of our stunning performances in the theatre, or to make the most of our beautiful function suites. We’ve had some lovely reviews on our Facebook page recently, see what people have been saying about us…

CREATIVE LEARNING
THINK FORWARD As part of a collaboration with charity Think Forward, which exists to provide successful school to work transitions for disengaged young people, we hosted a visit from 28 students aged 14-15 years, from across the whole of Kent. They had a full tour of the venue, heard all about life in the theatre and the various roles that are essential to its operation. We hope to continue this partnership as it provides an insight into an industry that may otherwise be excluded from these young people.
‘St Mary’s Church of England Primary Academy’s partnership with Leas Cliff Hall provides our children with a unique opportunity to perform in a professional theatre, and develop an understanding of the arts that just wouldn’t be possible in a classroom environment.’ – Charlie Tanner, Year 4 teacher
Creative learning is at the heart of what we do and provides opportunities for all ages. A small taste of what we offer includes backstage tours, apprenticeships, school workshops, work experience, college placements and community projects, to allow local people to engage creatively with the arts.

We are in the process of sifting through the many applications we have had for work experience and are looking forward to welcoming students to the Leas Cliff Hall throughout the year. We would like to say a special well done and welcome to Lizzie Brohan. We first met Lizzie in 2017 when she approached the theatre, asking about the possibility of undertaking work experience with our technical team. Lizzie joined us on work experience in June 2017 and has proven herself to be a very capable technician who fitted in perfectly; as a result, Lizzie has now joined our technical team. If you are interested in a work experience placement with us, please contact us.
SUMMER PROJECT
Learn. Create. Perform. Enjoy.
WORK EXPERIENCE
This summer, the Kidz on Stage youth project will be Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. This two week summer drama project offers the opportunity to get involved with a large stage production, either as a performer or backstage, and is a great way to find out more about theatre. The project culminates in four performances from 23 – 25 August. Auditions take place on Sun 3 June from 10am. If your child only wishes to be part of the chorus and not a principal character, they do not need to audition to take part in the two week project, but we do encourage all children to audition if possible.
