The Mousetrap is famous around the world for being the longest running show of any kind in the history of theatre, with over 26,000 performances in London. This record breaking 60th anniversary production is back by popular demand in 2016 starring Louise Jameson (Doctor Who, EastEnders, Doc Martin) as Mrs Boyle. The scene is set when a group of people gathered in a country house cut off by the snow discover, to their horror, that there is a murderer in their midst. Who can it be? One by one the suspicious characters reveal their sordid pasts until at the last, nerve-shredding moment the identity and the motive are finally revealed. In her own inimitable style, Dame Agatha Christie has created an atmosphere of shuddering suspense and a brilliantly intricate plot where murder lurks around every corner.

THE 3 DANCERS PLUS OTHER WORKS

Love, desire and betrayal are the ingredients of the shocking true story which inspired Picasso’s masterpiece, The Three Dancers. Now Rambert springs Picasso’s painting from the canvas to the stage, as Didy Veldman brings to life his vivid Cubist imagery and the themes of ecstasy and doom that fill his work. The 3 Dancers forms the centrepiece of a triple bill that also includes Transfigured Night. Two lovers meet by moonlight and a dark secret threatens to tear them apart. Created by two time Olivier Award winning choreographer Kim Brandstrup, it is a dramatic love story, with intimate duets and spectacular ensemble dancing amplifying the beauty and romance of its Schoenberg score. With a new work from Rambert’s own Patricia Okenwa completing the programme, this is Britain’s national dance company at its most captivating, bringing you thought provoking drama, superb live music and the finest dancers in the world.

BY PETER WHELAN DIRECTED BY JAMES DACRE William Shakespeare’s daughter is publicly accused of having a sexual liaison with her neighbour and her husband stands firmly by her, suing her accuser for slander. Three people’s lives fall under the glare of intense public scrutiny in this emotional thriller, based upon real events which occurred in Stratford Upon Avon in the summer of 1613. A fascinating exposé of the contradiction between human desire and social convention which seeks to repress it, Peter Whelan’s moving and uplifting play provides a beautiful evocation of life in Shakespearian England. First produced to great acclaim by the Royal Shakespeare Company before transferring to the West End and Broadway, The Herbal Bed’s focus upon the conflict between public and private morality grows in relevance and meaning today.

In Jackie The Musical we revisit those heady days and tell the story of a recent divorcée who seeks advice once more from the pages of her old Jackie annuals. The quizzes, the fashion tips, the ‘do’s and don’ts on a first date’ and above all the Cathy and Claire problem pages are all eagerly devoured by our plucky heroine as she revisits the dizzy world of the teen bible. With her ex and a handsome new guy in tow, the valuable lessons she learnt as a girl begin to influence her future and Jackie discovers the one person in control of her life is her. Starring Janet Dibley (The Two of Us, EastEnders, Fat Friends) Jackie The Musical is accompanied by a pulsating sound track of classic 70s hits. Supporting quality drama at Theatre Royal Brighton

Guys like us, that work on ranches, are the loneliest guys in the world. They got no family. They don’t belong no place… with us it ain’t like that. We got a future. We got somebody to talk to that gives a damn about us. Set in America during the Great Depression, this classic play tells the story of George and Lennie, two migrant farm workers, who go in search of new beginnings, in the hope of attaining their shared dream: of putting together enough money to buy a small piece of land and building a home. After a long and exhausting journey, the pair arrive at a farm in California where they seek work. But they are no strangers to trouble and soon find themselves reeling from the fall out of an innocent misunderstanding which spirals out of control and leaves the two men, bound together by friendship, facing an earth shattering climax. Cast includes Dudley Sutton (Lovejoy, Entertaining Mr Sloane, A Whistle in the Dark) as Candy.
