Now Rambert springs Picasso’s painting from the canvas to the stage, as Didy Veldman brings to life his vivid Cubist imagery and the themes of ecstasy and doom that fill his work. The 3 Dancers forms the centrepiece of a triple bill that also includes Transfigured Night. Two lovers meet by moonlight and a dark secret threatens to tear them apart. Created by two time Olivier Award winning choreographer Kim Brandstrup, it is a dramatic love story, with intimate duets and spectacular ensemble dancing amplifying the beauty and romance of its Schoenberg score. With a new work from Rambert’s own Patricia Okenwa completing the programme, this is Britain’s national dance company at its most captivating, bringing you thought provoking drama, superb live music and the finest dancers in the world.

Three people’s lives fall under the glare of intense public scrutiny in this emotional thriller, based upon real events which occurred in Stratford Upon Avon in the summer of 1613. A fascinating exposé of the contradiction between human desire and social convention which seeks to repress it, Peter Whelan’s moving and uplifting play provides a beautiful evocation of life in Shakespearian England. First produced to great acclaim by the Royal Shakespeare Company before transferring to the West End and Broadway, The Herbal Bed’s focus upon the conflict between public and private morality grows in relevance and meaning today.

Guys like us, that work on ranches, are the loneliest guys in the world. They got no family. They don’t belong no place… with us it ain’t like that. We got a future. We got somebody to talk to that gives a damn about us. Set in America during the Great Depression, this classic play tells the story of George and Lennie, two migrant farm workers, who go in search of new beginnings, in the hope of attaining their shared dream: of putting together enough money to buy a small piece of land and building a home. After a long and exhausting journey, the pair arrive at a farm in California where they seek work. But they are no strangers to trouble and soon find themselves reeling from the fall out of an innocent misunderstanding which spirals out of control and leaves the two men, bound together by friendship, facing an earth shattering climax. Cast includes Dudley Sutton (Lovejoy, Entertaining Mr Sloane, A Whistle in the Dark) as Candy.

The closest car park is the NCP Theatre Car Park in Church Street where visitors to the Theatre can enjoy a flat rate £4 (after 5pm Mon - Sun) and £5.50 on Thu mats (after 12pm). For Thu mats only, take the ticket from the entrance barrier at the car park and bring this to the Theatre. Insert your parking ticket into the special validation machine and it will recode the discount for you. Price increases on parking fees are solely at the discretion of NCP.
