EXTRAORDINARY OPERA RETURNS Mozart Don Giovanni: A critically acclaimed revival of one of Mozart’s most popular operas. Not many comic operas begin with a cold-blooded murder and end with the hero’s consignment to hell – but Don Giovanni swings restlessly between comedy and tragedy to startling effect.

‘FORGET STRICTLY – COME SEE THESE WONDERFUL DANCERS IN EXHILARATING FORM’ – Herald.

Puccini Madama Butterfly: A new production of Puccini’s masterwork. Puccini loved to portray ‘great sorrows in little souls’, and never did he do so more stirringly than in Madama Butterfly. Derived from a true story of a Japanese geisha married and abandoned by an American sailor, Puccini’s work unfolds as a disastrous clash of East and West.

Don Giovanni: Behind the Curtain: Discover the magic of opera with this unique live performance of Don Giovanni. Whether you’re completely new to opera or simply curious to find out more, Don Giovanni: Behind the Curtain will provide you with a behind-the-scenes exploration of how an opera is staged, while at the same time demystifying opera itself.

LYN PAUL RETURNS FROM HER WEST END RUN ‘THE DEFINITIVE MRS JOHNSTONE’ MANCHESTER EVENING NEWS

|8|

Few musicals have received quite such acclaim as the multi award-winning Blood Brothers. Bill Kenwright’s production surpassed 10,000 performances in London’s West End, one of only three musicals ever to achieve that milestone. It has been affectionately christened the ‘STANDING OVATION MUSICAL ’, as inevitably it ‘BRINGS THE AUDIENCE CHEERING TO ITS FEET AND ROARING ITS APPROVAL’ – The Daily Mail. Lyn Paul returns to the iconic role she has played many times in the West End, in fact she was the show’s final Mrs Johnstone when it closed at The Pheonix Theatre in 2012. Lyn also starred in Bill Kenwright’s tour of Cabaret with Will Young in 2013 and rose to fame as a member of the pop group New Seekers whose numerous number one hits include I’d Like To Teach The World To Sing which sold over 20 million copies. The superb score includes Bright New Day, Marilyn Monroe and the emotionally charged hit Tell Me It’s Not True.

‘A SUPERBLY GRIPPING PSYCHOLOGICAL THRILLER’ DAILY TELEGRAPH One of the greatest thrillers of all time hits the UK stage starring the highly acclaimed stage and television actress Kara Tointon. While Jack Manningham (Rupert Young) is on the town each evening his wife Bella (Kara Tointon) is home alone. She can’t explain the disappearance of familiar objects, the mysterious footsteps overhead or the ghostly flickering of a living room gaslight – is she losing her mind? Does the terror exist in her imagination or are dark secrets living in her home? The surprise arrival of a retired detective (Keith Allen) leads to a shocking discovery that will shake her respectable Victorian marriage to its core. In the tradition of heavyweight thrillers from Hitchcock, Christie and Priestley, Gaslight is a genre-defining, sensationally suspenseful, all-round elegant masterpiece. This new production of Gaslight is the definitive seatgripping drama not to be missed. A tense and hugely satisfying evening of great British theatre.

DAILY MAIL

Following its success in the West End, Las Vegas and on Broadway, Million Dollar Quartet is coming to Woking! This worldwide smash hit musical is inspired by the famous recording session that brought together rock ‘n’ roll icons Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins for the first and only time. On December 4, 1956, these four star musicians gathered at Sun Records in Memphis, the studios of legendary record producer Sam Phillips (Peter Duncan), for what would be one of the greatest jam sessions of all time. ‘THE MOST BRILLIANTLY EFFECTIVE SPINE-CHILLER YOU WILL EVER ENCOUNTER’ DAILY TELEGRAPH Susan Hill’s acclaimed ghost story comes dramatically alive in Stephen Mallatratt’s ingenious stage adaptation. This gripping production, directed by Robin Herford, is a brilliantly successful study in atmosphere, illusion and controlled horror. A lawyer obsessed with a curse that he believes has been cast over him and his family by the spectre of a Woman in Black, engages a sceptical young actor to help him tell his terrifying story and exorcise the fear that grips his soul. It all begins innocently enough, but then, as they reach further into his darkest memories, they find themselves caught up in a world of eerie marshes and moaning winds. Now celebrating its 27th year in the West End, over 7 million people have lived to tell the tale of one of the most chilling and successful theatre events ever staged.

TUE – SAT 7.30PM (WED, THU & SAT MATS 2.30PM)

Georges and the dazzling drag artiste Albin, star of La Cage aux Folles, live an idyllic existence in the heart of St Tropez. But behind the curtains of this sparkling extravaganza, all may be about to change. Georges’ son Jean-Michel announces his engagement to the daughter of a notorious right-wing politician determined to close down the local colourful night-life. Drama and hilarity ensue when a meeting of the parents forces them to cover up their vibrant lifestyle. Will Albin be able to play the role of his life to ensure that Jean-Michel can marry his love? Bill Kenwright presents a spectacular new version of the much loved musical with West End star John Partridge as Albin and Broadway leading man Adrian Zmed as Georges. John’s extensive theatre credits boast the West End productions of A Chorus Line at the London Palladium, Cats, Starlight Express and Chicago, but perhaps he is best known for playing the loveable Christian in BBC’s EastEnders and as a judge on TV’s Over The Rainbow. Adrian’s Broadway credits include Blood Brothers, Grease and Falsettos and on television he is best loved as Officer Vince Romano in the hit TV show T.J. Hooker and on the big screen as Johnny in Grease 2. The show-stopping score includes The Best of Times, Song on the Sand and I Am What I Am.

FOLLOWING TEN YEARS OF THE AGATHA CHRISTIE THEATRE COMPANY, A NEW THRILLER FROM ‘THE BEST WOMAN CRIME WRITER SINCE CHRISTIE’ THE SUNDAY TIMES

Building on the phenomenal decade-long success of The Agatha Christie Theatre Company, which sold over two million tickets and continually played to packed houses around the UK, Bill Kenwright presents a new production adapted from one of the most celebrated works of the writer often hailed as the successor to Agatha Christie. Eunice struggles to fit in. When she joins a wealthy family as their housekeeper the very reason for her awkwardness, long hidden and deeply buried, leads inexorably to a terrible tale of murder in cold blood – on Valentine’s Day. Ruth Rendell’s brilliant plot unravels a lifetime of deceit, despair and cover-ups which, when revealed, brings a shocking revelation almost as grizzly as murder itself. Led by Director Roy Marsden, best known for playing PD James’ detective Adam Dalgliesh, the cast includes Film, TV and Stage favourite Sophie Ward who played the ill-fated love interest of Young Sherlock Holmes and Dr Helen Trent in ITV drama Heartbeat, pop-idol Mark Wynter who since his hit parade days has featured in seven Agatha Christie Company productions, Deborah Grant (Not Going Out, Bergerac), movie icon Shirley Anne Field who became an overnight star in The Entertainer and Saturday Night and Sunday Morning, Antony Costa who shot to fame in chart topping boy band Blue, and Agatha Christie Company stalwart Ben Nealon whose TV credits include ITV’s award winning Soldier Soldier. | 30 |
