I am a retired professional photographer from Scotland and I now live in Port Macquarie, NSW.

How did you become interested/get started in Photo Artistry and what inspires you or gives you inspiration to create your art?

After years of traditional photography I felt I wanted to express my art in a different way. My partner Denise introduced me to “Living the Photo Artistic Life”.

My inspiration comes from ideas about sci-fi, fantasy legend, history.

Do you have a certain approach to creating your art?

It will come from an idea and then I’ll photograph all the elements to portray that idea and the work grows from there.

What does your art mean to you?

It’s my way of story-telling using the photographic medium.

Do you think since starting in Photo Artistry it has changed you and if so, how?

Yes. I find myself creating projects that would have been impossible to create 7 years ago.

Is there anyone that you draw inspiration from?

I am always trawling the internet for ideas that inspire me. And then I put my slant on it.

Where do you see (or hope to see) your art taking you in the future? What are your next steps?

I had an exhibition in July this year with my partner Denise McDermott and we are planning other exhibitions next year. I find this an excellent way to showcase my work and let the public see creations that they would not normally see.

Tell us about your interest in Astrophotography.

My other passion in life is astronomy and astrophotography. I have included a few of my images to let my fellow artists see some of my work they don’t normally see. Looking at the night sky through a telescope and capturing images of planets, nebulae and far distant galaxies is truly amazing for me. It’s hard to believe these are real images and not created artworks.
