HISTORY Our History “To think that just over 50 years ago, a group of passionate footballers were sitting together talking about starting a club and now we compete in the second highest league in the country and have over 400 boys and girls in our youth/ junior program, it’s just incredible.” - Club President, Jim Tona 2

The first known Pascoe Vale Soccer Club was formed in 1932 by British migrants playing in the Victorian Division 3 league. In 1966, the club was reformed, and a surge through the provisional leagues in the early 80s had the club achieve three successive promotions between 1982 and 1984, taking Pascoe Vale from Victorian Provisional League Division 4 to Victorian Provisional League Division 1. The club was promoted again in 1986, competing in the State Leagues for the first time in 1987 and remained in Victorian League Division 4 for the next six years until being promoted to Victorian State League Division 3 in 1992. Promotion to Victorian State League Division 2 came in 2001, with a Championship in 2008 which promoted the club to State League Division 1 in the 2009 season. We are proud of our Junior Programme, which started back in 1980 and now boasts over 400 boys and girls of all ages. Pascoe Vale were promoted to the Victorian Premier League (VPL) in 2012 for the first time after finishing top of State League 1 by five points over Port Melbourne Sharks, arguably the greatest achievement in the club’s history. From humble beginnings, this small club run by a few mates from Macedonia, was competing with some of the biggest clubs in the country. Our women’s football department, formed in 2007 has grown from strength to strength and in 2018 will have a female team in each age group. ‘Paco’, as we are affectionately known had, a baptism of fire in its inaugural year in the VPL, but in 2013 successfully applied for a licence for the newly formed National Premier Leagues (NPL) Victoria, the new top tier of football in Victoria. Despite being tipped by some as relegation candidates, Paco finishing 11th in 2014 and 6th in 2015, qualifying for the finals series. The 2015 season also marked the first season Pascoe Vale played out of their new ‘home’ ground CB Smith Reserve, whilst maintaining it training facilities at Hosken Reserve in Coburg.

FACILITIES

Our Facilities CB Smith Reserve, Fawkner

Pascoe Vale FC play all NPL home games at CB Smith Sport and Education Facility at 79 - 83 Jukes Road, Fawkner. This $6.4 million facility includes a premier pitch, 500 seat grandstand, function room, change rooms and media room, and also serves as an innovative learning space. The CB Smith Sports and Education Centre was funded through contributions of $1 million from the Department of Education, $100,000 from Sports and Recreation Victoria and $5.3 million from Moreland City Council.

Richards Reserve, Coburg

Richards Reserve, or ‘The Velodrome’ as it was aptly referred to by the ‘Paco’ faithful given its neighbouring location to Coburg’s premier cycling track, was PVFC’s spiritual heartland that opposing teams dreaded to visit. Tin sheds for change rooms, a bunker-like club room space, and a playing surface which resembled a minefield. Despite the bobbles, the ground unearthed many legends of the club, including Tony Centorrino who continuously had twenty-plus goal seasons to fire the Vale’s into the Metropolitan league. The club may have moved to Hosken Reserve, but Richards Reserve continues to be a valuable training facility with recent investments in lighting and changerooms.

Hosken Reserve, Coburg North

After relocating from Richards Reserve in 1990, Hosken Reserve became the new spiritual home for the Pascoe Vale Football Club and lay witness to the most successful year in the clubs history when in 2012 Pascoe Vale won the Division One Championship by five points over Port Melbourne and were promoted to the Victoria Premier League for the first time in our history. After joining the NPL in 2014, all senior games have been played at CB Smith, but the club aspires to developing Hosken Reserve into a premier football, community and learning facility where senior games will again be enjoyed by the Paco faithful.

Reddish Reserve, Hadfield

Reddish Reserve provides our teams with a training facility with two floodlit pitches.

Our Community Pascoe Vale Football Club is a not for profit members based club, which has a proud tradition of volunteering time and resources in assisting and driving major charity initiatives in Melbourne. Strong community structures and values do not develop on their own but instead need to be instilled and reinforced by all organisations. Pascoe Vale FC takes this responsibility very seriously and conducts events that support various charities. The Club’s community participation is a pivotal area of interest and is an important component of our club’s moral compass

PVFC Kicking Goals for a Good Cause

Delivering Coaching Courses to the Community

Pascoe Vale Football Club visits local schools, providing skills clinics to children and continues its focus on community engagement. “We at Pascoe Vale Football Club are extremely proud to be working with local schools and charities to highlight how football can make a difference”. Says Vitale Ferrante, Senior Coach, PVFC.

Our Technical Director, Dean Hennessey works with Community Clubs to provide improved education opportunities for local coaches. Part of the role of Technical Directors at NPL clubs is to work directly with their region’s community clubs for the overall benefit of juniors. Dean Hennessey is doing his bit to help broaden and improve the coaching knowledge and skills of the coaches at our community clubs.

PVFC In Partnership with Melbourne City Pascoe Vale FC and A-League powerhouse Melbourne City FC are closely aligned and provide football clinics for the local community.

This will help to improve the standard of football education across the board not just within NPL Victoria Clubs from our coaches, committee and members.

PVFC BUSINESS

HUDL

Pascoe Vale FC is delighted to announce the PVFC in Business Corporate Networking Group ahead of the 2018 season. The formation of the group was the idea of the club Executive that identified the opportunity to connect likeminded individuals and businesses that support our club in the seasons ahead.

We’re excited to announce that Hudl and Pascoe Vale FC have signed an exclusive deal to provide video analysis at all levels in it’s NPL Victoria teams.

“We are excited about bringing our Corporate Partners together through this new initiative and creating networking opportunities in our state-of-the art facility at CB Smith Stadium during our 13 home NPL Victoria matches” says Rob Alexander from PVFC in Business.

“We’re planning events for 2018 that extend beyond football, to appeal to all PVFC in Business members and look forward to releasing details soon.” Speaking with PVFC TV, Head of PVFC Corporate Sponsorship Paul Ferrante was excited about the launch of the new group. “We have worked tirelessly over the last six months to establish a brand that is closely aligned with our club’s culture and that our growing Corporate sponsors will associate. It’s a testament to the professionalism of our club and that we ‘punch above our weight’, on and off the pitch.”

The club has raised the bar in the NPL Victoria and we are pleased to announce we are the first NPL Victoria club to commence the program in season 2018.

The Hudl software links players and coaches across tackle, touch and flag levels. Our mission is to grow the game while providing learning opportunities and promoting safe play.

We believe Hudl will be a tool that will help players and coaches in and out of season and provides an opportunity to improve their football knowledge throughout the entire year. With the application of Hudl, Pascoe Vale FC seeks to not only provide cutting-edge tools to its NPL teams but to also create another channel to market for its Sponsors, with advertisements opportunities on footage that will be used at a coaching, and promotional level.

PVFC Chairman Lou Tona echoed Paul Ferrante’s thoughts. “We continue to work hard to be the ‘club of choice’ for players and supporters, and initiatives like PVFC in Business is an example of this. I’d like to congratulate Paul, Rob and the entire Media, Marketing and Sponsorship subcommittee for their efforts as we approach the 2018 season, and extend a warn invitation to existing and new sponsors to jump on board and show your support.” To register your interest or to become a PVFC in Business member, please contact Media, Marketing and Sponsorship department at enquiries@pvfc.com.au. Standard packages start at $650 + GST
