Wall House
Small House Project_ Autumn 2020 // Workplace_ Helasco
This is the Concept Design of a small family House about 135m² located in Eglucada, Greece. The house is 0.70m uplifted from the ground. The design concept is centered to the existance of 2 Walls as one can observe in the sketch below. The first wall reveals the entrance of the house while providing privacy to the yard, and the second wall “protects” the two bedrooms and the office from the unwanted noise and gaze from the communal parts of the house that sustain a more fluid arrangement. The concept advancing with this big window opening in the living room leading to the yard’s deck, where there is also a sheltered staircase approaching the basement. The design completes with a communal area placed next to the entrance containg a coat hanger, a guest’s wc and a laundry room.

Diploma Thesis _ Spring 2019 // Grade: 10/10 Supervisor _ Prof. Athanasios Spanomaridis Collaborator _ Danai Christani
This diploma thesis attempt to approach the limits of abiding through giving new meaning to the relationship between man and sky. In the darkest part of the Balkans, the Neraidorachi of Helmos. 2.300 meters higher than the sea, 2.300 meters closer to the sky. The embrace that the two rocky mountains form, is being cut by Stygas’ ravine, but a wall comes to unite them. The interior of the wall is an enclosed world, a labyrinthian relief, a monastery-like structure dedicated to the observation of the celestial dome. Architecture is established as a gesture revealing the world, a gesture that collects and composes all its scattered points, devoting them to its unity. In this unity, man - matter of a suicided star, reflection of the dark trace of the primitive destruction and the sadness of the cosmic wandering that followed, participates relearning how to abide.

The entrance is the first stop, where the visitor or the scientist has two alternatives reaching the building a long way of ramps and stairs, and teleferic. The view is breathtaking. On the last part of the staircase there is the water element, a point of memory and recollection of the old legendary fount of Stuga. The embrace that the two rocky mountains form, is being cut by Stygas’ ravine, but the wall - building unites them. The visitor is being draged down by the massive power of this bulding, having the exesive need to discover its interior and ‘read’ the sky throught it.

Reading of Landscape Naoussa Case
Pan-Hellenic Open Student Architectural Contest. _ Winter 2018 // Collaborator _ Danai Christani Distinction: 3th place
Conserning the regeneration of Naoussa’s Municipal Park, we aimed at a space that would host a variety of activities, targeting residents of all ages and city visitors. Depending on the current state of the park, we have concentrated on creating a reconciliation space for memory, entertainment and reverie. The main axis of our design is the emergence of the flora of the park, the reinforcement of which will help redefine the wholelandscape, creating a new attraction for the city of Naoussa. We divide the park into three sections, each with its own meaning and hue. M E M O R Y The northern part of the park is the first unit, aiming at scraping the memory and causing intense feelings to the visitor. To accomplish this, we design a geometric path of black granite, with the shape of a bold line drawn from the description of some columns and busts found in the area. E N T E R T A I N M E N T The middle part of the park is divided. West, we are designing a playground, which, alongside the city, is protected by a low-vegetation and tree filter, and east, we maintain a low vegetation while, at the edge of the dining area, we design a multifunctional bench, either as a local production exhibition space or as a venue for local celebrations. G A R D E N Wandering and reverie, key components of the third and most organic module of our proposal. Our goal is to draw the visitor from the screeching of the leaves, the sounds of the birds and wander around the flower beds. The first thing you encounter when entering the garden is one an auditorium of apparent concrete, defined by a curved wall. The choice of flora was made on the basis of the overlapping flowering periods, so that the gardens would remain blossomed for most of the time.

Architectural act in Topos and Time a personal approach
Diploma Research Thesis _ Spring 2018 // Grade: 10/10 Hardcopy Publication 17.6 x 25, 124 pages Supervisor _ Prof. Athanasios Spanomaridis
This research thesis attempt to approach the emotive experience [methexis], which as a result of the redefined architectural act enables its subject- participant, to recognize s p a c e – l o c u s and t i m e [children of chaos]. Using the original phrase of Hesiod’s Theogony, “‘‘Εν ἀρχή ἦν τό Χάος, μετά η Γαῖα και ο Ἔρως”1, the research is organized in three sections. The first, which is also the creator of all queries: [Chaos], the second, regards the experience of space – locus: [Gaia], and the third concerns the experience of time: [Love]. Each of the three elements is analyzed philosophically, from ancient Greeks to contemporary ones, always ending up with its dialectics with the Architectural act. Philosophers, poets, writers, artists and architects are at the researcher’s command to discuss with them and these with each other. The result of their conciliation is a synthesis of bibliographic references and personal thoughts, indicated each time in the last subsection. In conclusion, through the rigorous discussion of the concepts from the beginning of their appearance until today, the aim of the research is the presentation of man as equal to Chaos, the proclamation of the necessary redefinition of the architectural act as a process of revelation and urging the subject to appropriate the locus and capture time through habitation.

Enter the Void
International Design Competition for the New Dining Place COOK 8 by DOMES international architectural magazine _ Winter 2018 // Collaborators: Athina Charalampopoulou, Danai Christani
“The beginning of everything is the uncanniest and strongest thing” Martin Heidegger Sphere = core – hearthstone ‘estia’ [ancient greek word for hearthstone] < verb ‘estiao’ = host host – ‘filokseno’ < ancient greek ‘filos’ + ‘xenos’ = friend + foreign The man, as the uncanniest and strongest in relation to the other beings, and at the same time as enquiring, is attracted by the foreign, the uncanny and seeks the “openness” to the world around him. He needs space to open, to communicate. The void, because of the uncanny it provokes, distracts man’s attention. “I am seeing a slit, I get closer. In front of me is the entrance of the building. I’m going. The door opens. I’m coming in, but I see an empty, almost suffocating space, a small room without people, no furniture, no food. I am waiting. I wish I’m not alone. Fortunately. Other people are coming. Whispers fill the gap. Suddenly we hear a noise. The roof is going down.”

Villard 18 International Architectural and Urban design seminar _ Spring 2017 // Sustainable Urban Regeneration & Sustainable Strategies _ City of Piacenza Supervisor _ Prof. Georgio A. Panetsos // Collaborators _ Agapi Kyriakidou Savvas Stroumpas // Distinction 1st Place among all submitted projects
Piacenza is a city and commune in the Emilia-Romagna region of northern Italy, located at a major crossroad at the intersection between Bologna and Milan, Brescia and Tortona. Piacenza is also at the confluence of the Trebbia, draining the Apennine Mountains to the north, and the river Po, draining to the east. Piacenza also hosts two universities, Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore and Polytechnic University of Milan. Ιt is easy to understand that the city of Piacenza is a knot. Taking advantage of this particular feature, we design a cultural building-landmark, a G A T E W A Y at the entrance of the city. Aiming to Piacenza’s sustainable regeneration, we create a new centre for the city, filled with several activities. Sport pitches, flee market, playground and others frame the cultural building, whose interior consists of a big Theatre, a new city Library, a museum of natural history, and finally a cafeteria, with a great view at the river Po. We create a brand new pole, changing the city’s fate.

Katakolo is a small town in the Peloponnese, that is a tourist resort since many cruise ships engage in the summer months at its harbor. A town of historical significance located south of the ancient Olympia and as it is rumored that ancient city of Phea has sunk very close. Taking advantage of its strategic position, we envision a city that tells a story to its visitors, while at the same time it rises the rich in its Sulphur and Clay soils. Our intervention consists of fragments of an grandiose idea. Fragments that a visitor can approach, in which order he desires, wandering on Katakolo’s hill. First an oversized shelter welcomes him. Afterwards there are two stations on the hill, on the east side the thermal baths and on the other side the cultural museum, memorial to Ancient Phea and a scuba diving training center. Finally, opposite to the old lighthouse, there is a large platform that leads to the new lighthouse - observatory, from which he can gaze the Ionian Sea.

Unification Network Messolonghi’s rescue plan
Design Studio _ 7th semester _ Winter 2017 // Supervisor _ Prof. Georgios A. Panetsos Collaborator _ Danai Christani
Αn isolated town in the aftermath of the quondam glare.Messolonghi or the so-called sacred town Messolonghi, is a small city with an abundance of goods, but thought neglected. Messolonghi, could be a national tourist attraction. However, it is imperative to highlight and enhance its particular characteristics. We propose a series of interventions creating a network of activities linking the coastal front with the water channel and the historical center of the city. Next to the entrance of the city we are planning short-stay dwellings, and afterwards, a number of shops such as a boats for boating in the channel, as well as shops selling local products - such as Messolonghi’s botargo, which is one of the best in the world. In the triangular square in front of the lagoon there is a restaurant and a bar with privileged view. Then, a natural reserve, is organized, hosting the local flora and fauna, equipped with resting points and observatories. Along the channel, we design a pedestrian and bicycle path formation, tree-lined plantation, and an open-air exhibition hall on the banks of the channel. The route ends up with a “bridge” building that houses the city Library, which crosses the channel, thus achieving circular move flow.
