Welcome Talk
Congratulations Congratulations on your offer of a place in Athlone Institute of Technology. We are delighted you have chosen to study here and are looking forward to meeting you!
We have a programme of events planned for you as part of New Student Induction to help you get off to a flying start. It is essential that you attend all elements of New Student Induction to make sure you don’t miss out on any vital information.
This booklet is part of your essential toolkit for your first two days in AIT so make sure to See you soon, bring it with you. Sarah La Cumbre Student Services Manager
New Student Induction As part of New Student Induction, you and your classmates will join designated groups and will get to know each other, learn how to find your way around, learn about the great facilities and opportunities you can avail of while you are here, be shown how to access computers and the Library, meet key staff members whose job it is to help you get the most out of your time at AIT.
Library Overview: During this session, you will learn all about the Library resources available to you in completing your course of study and associated assessments.
Where do I go? Find your group by looking for your course title at the top of the timetable, once you know your group you will be able to follow the timetable directly underneath for that group. Each timetabled activity has a number corresponding to a location on the MAP for each element of Induction.
Over the course of the programme there will be student helpers with brightly coloured T-shirts saying ‘Ask Me’, so stop them or any staff member to ask for directions or help if you’re stuck.
Registration This is where you officially register as an AIT student. Have your Bank Giro and your best smile ready for your new
college I.D card.
