Spas - The hotels driving force
Spas have been proven to not only compliment a Hotel but become its driving force‌ As much as a simple leisure club became a pivotal piece in the Hotel Jigsaw in the 90’s, the explosion in Spa Development as part of the offering has driven some hotels to another level. We know for a fact that in some instances the Spa has played a key role in supporting large and smaller Boutique Hotels by extending seasons and providing additional revenues. It goes without saying that a well designed Spa correctly proportioned, providing a clever mix of offering will help in promoting the hotel on many fronts, the clever part of all of this is to ensure that budgets are not exceeded preventing overruns whilst ensuring the correct spa elements are included in the development. We have designed Spas with expansion in mind at the outset and if done correctly any additions can be built with little or no interruption to the Spa operation. It’s obvious to us that the Spa offering will evolve over the coming years becoming more and more a standard requirement expected within a hotel whether a simple treatment facility or a full blown Spa. We obviously recognise that planning restrictions and site accessibility can impact on the ideal layout moving forward but to ignore the possible avenues open to each development at the concept stage can prove costly in years to come. I would suggest that any client thinking of developing a Spa large or small should at least consult a specialist Spa design company if only to critique their proposal, at least in this way the appointed architects are provided with key information preventing any unnecessary spend, with the knowledge that operationally the Spa is correctly designed.
