Jack and the Beanstalk Thrive on the Virtual Stage

Beginning September 9 and running through September 20, 2020 the Center for Puppetry Arts presents a live performance from its digital studios via Zoom of Jack and the Beanstalk (ages 2-12). In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Center has expanded its virtual programming to include more live interactive online workshops and puppet shows, museum programming, virtual field trips, and on demand video.

In this very fractured telling of a fairy tale favorite, Jack must find a giant to solve a uniquely froggy problem! Jack and the Beanstalk is presented by award winning puppeteer, David Stephens. Stephens has toured the United States and Canada presenting one-man puppet shows, which he writes, directs, builds, produces and performs under the auspices of his Atlanta-based company, All Hands Productions. His work has been recognized by the Puppeteers of America and the American branch of Union Internationale de la Marionette (UNIMA), the world’s oldest theatrical organization focused on puppetry.

Along with the show, your Jack and the Beanstalk ticket includes a special do-it-yourself Create-A-Puppet Workshop™ kit.The kit contains a PDF with a template, list of materials, and all the instructions you need to build your Delightful Dog Hand Puppet. You will also receive a link to an instructional video on how to build yourpuppet.

Visit the Center for Puppetry Arts website for more information and to purchase your tickets today. Tickets must be purchased at least one hour in advance of the show and you must have the Zoom application loaded on your device to see the live performance.

In addition to Jack and the Beanstalk, the Center’s award-winning Digital Learning team offers an array of live, interactive online puppet shows, curriculum-based workshops, museum programs, and video for classroom and home educators. With the expertise of 20+ years presenting distance learning programming, the Center for Puppetry Arts is a valuable resource for teachers and parents seeking digital learning opportunities. The 2020-2021 Educator Resource Guide is a comprehensive list of everything that’s available from the digital studios at the Center.
