Economic and Commercial Development
For the past 20 years, since the Lebanon Valley Business Park was created from what had been farmland in South Lebanon Township, Lebanon County has attracted businesses, large and small, from around the state, the region, and the world. Today, thanks to an assortment of well-planned industrial, distribution, and business parks in almost every corner of Lebanon County, new and expanding businesses have joined a long list of local firms that have prospered here in the Lebanon Valley.
Historically, Lebanon County was home to some of the giants of the iron and steel industries that made America great. As those steel giants declined, Lebanon County’s remaining industries and private sector companies were able to transition, transform, grow, and prosper. Although steel will always have a significant place in the minds of earlier generations of Lebanon County residents, new and exciting business opportunities have generated thousands of good jobs.
Today, there are large and impressive distribution and logistics centers located in Palmyra, Jonestown, Lickdale and Fredericksburg as well as West Lebanon Township, South Lebanon Township, and Union Township. Construction of new business parks is also taking place along Route 422 between Annville and Palmyra. Most importantly, all of this impressive economic activity is occurring with a keen eye on our quality of life and our environment.
