See And Be Seen Audi LED lights – daylight at night From a distance they resemble two beaming cat eyes. It’s arguably the most distinctive exterior feature of an Audi, captivating the attention of drivers and pedestrians whether day or night. The fascination with Audi’s lighting technology goes back to 1994 when the company took the lead and introduced second generation xenon headlights on the highly revered A8. The next few years would see world-leading innovations including daytime running lights and full LED lights. Fast forward to 2013 and the German automaker is back with none other than the A8 introducing Matrix LED technology and already in early 2014 there’s talk of laser LED lights. Audi LED technology helps create lighting that’s powerful and iconic, not only in the dark of night, but also in broad daylight. The stylish design is aesthetically pleasing and it also increases visibility to others, whether you’re coming or going. So not only is it just a car with sexy lights, it also has the safest lights. It doesn’t get better than as bright as the sun. As explained below, darkness doesn’t stand a chance!

LED Lights Even the darkest night has its bright spots. Only one square millimetre in size and offered on almost every vehicle, Audi LEDs have opened up an array of styling opportunities. These little marvels can be combined to create infinite shapes and arrangements, giving each vehicle a look that’s distinct, yet unmistakably Audi. It’s the closest re-creation of daylight yet. Full LED headlights produce light at 5,500 Kelvin, that’s roughly the same as daylight. This could help your eyes perceive more contrast. They experience less strain. And those dark stretches of road become a little less daunting. Conventional lights produce light at only 3,200 Kelvin.

Matrix LED Lights

Technology has your back. Audi LED taillights go on fast and bright, activating up to ten times quicker than conventional bulbs. A trailing driver can notice the brake lights sooner and have more time to react. Full LED headlights. Audi redefines darkness with revolutionary LED technology in the A6, first released in the R8 in 2008. The A6 outshone its competitors as the world’s first executive saloon to feature full LED headlights, engineered with intelligent systems such as adaptive light control and high-beam assist, which give maximum visibility without dazzling other road users. The adaptive light system adapts the light provided by the headlights to the driving situation, with different arrangements of light when driving in the city, on country roads and on motorways. The future is bright. One day, it may be lights-out for conventional bulbs. That’s because LED can help reduce carbon emissions and save fuel. How? Since LEDs are four times more efficient than conventional bulbs, the vehicle’s alternator isn’t required to replenish as much energy. This helps reduce the load put on the vehicle’s engine and enhances the vehicle’s efficiency.

Matrix LED Lights The Audi Matrix LED headlights debuted on the A8 last year, extending the brand’s lead in lighting technology. As soon as the camera in the A8 detects oncoming vehicles, the Audi Matrix LED headlights dip the relevant sections of the highbeam headlights. The system operates with such precision that it blanks out light that would shine directly onto oncoming and preceding vehicles, but continues to cast the high beams with full power on all other zones between and beside them. The closer an approaching vehicle gets, the more LEDs are deactivated or dimmed. When there is no more oncoming traffic, the high-beam headlights then

resume full power, including the sections that had previously been off. The light that the driver sees is always bright, homogeneous and much more effective than that produced by competitors’ mechanical dipping systems.

Laser Headlights In January 2014 at the International Consumer Electronics Show Audi stunned the world once again when it announced Laser LED lights will be added to production cars. And Audi’s 2014 R18 race car, which will compete at the 24 Hours of LeMans, will use laser lights in addition to its banks of LED lights. What makes the laser light so appealing to carmakers is its potential to shine 1500 feet down the road—more than a quarter of a mile. As seen on the Sport Quattro Laserlight Concept, future Audis will use a combination of LED and lasers, with the lasers serving as the car’s high beams. Audi’s main world-leading light innovations: * 1994: second-generation xenon headlights introduced in the Audi A8 * 2003: adaptive light in the Audi A8 * 2004: LED daytime running lights in the Audi A8 * * 2008: full-LED headlights in the Audi R8 * 2010: connectivity between the headlights and navigation data in the Audi A8 * 2011: homogeneous LED rear lights design in the Audi A6 * 2012: turn signal with dynamic display in the Audi R8 * 2013: full-LED headlights for the compact class * 2013: European Union validates LED technology from Audi as an eco-innovation, the first manufacturer to be certified for this technology.

“If I could, I would live in my Audi!” “If anyone had told me that my first car would be an Audi, I wouldn’t have believed it. I’m absolutely amazed at how affordable it is. It’s luxurious, quick, powerful, spacious and loaded with features! The suspension is impressive with handling rough roads so I enjoy a smooth ride throughout. The sophisticated engineering under the hood is great. But what I love most are the Bluetooth and multifunction steering features plus the Audi Music Interface which comes with the latest iPod connection, SD card or memory chip, six-disc in-dash CD/MP3 changer, and a radio system that accommodates a 30-station memory. It’s just a fun car to drive. I absolutely love it! If I could, I would live in my Audi! All I’d need is a mini fridge.” Alexis Nunes News & Sports Anchor
