When we created the Exhibit in Print, it was intended to be a feature that could help satisfy the desire of owners and operators of self-service laundries who wanted to see the latest and greatest in laundry products and services.

We slated it for even-numbered years, opposite the schedule of the Clean Show, our industry’s largest trade exhibition. The arrival of COVID-19 this year and the resulting restrictions on large gatherings throughout the country has put most trade exhibitions on hold ... but not this one!

FREE LAUNDRY APP CREATED WITH COVID-19 IN MIND

BCC Payments, a laundry-focused payment and control systems company, has created a free WashDryGo application platform for Laundromat owners to use during and after the COVID-19 pandemic.

The WashDryGo app can help store owners manage the flow of customers and maintain safe social distancing during their wash and dry cycles, the company says.

The app can be used with any brand of equipment in both attended and unattended stores. Employees or customers can easily set up accounts with just their phone number and receive notifications when the cycles are complete.

“The WashDryGo concept helps laundry owners protect their customers by encouraging them to social distance, or wait outside during wash and dry cycles, then leave the store to safely fold their clothes at home,” says Tom Merkh, president and chief technology officer of BCC.

The Girbau Group, parent company of Girbau North America, reports it has acquired the entire share capital of its Chinese joint venture Girbau Shenguang Laundry Technology, Shanghai, which provides professional laundry solutions and is exclusively dedicated to its customers in the Chinese market.

With this action, GSLT becomes a subsidiary fully controlled by the Girbau Group with the aim of promoting the future development of the company and strengthening its position in the Chinese market.

GSLT is the result of the joint venture founded in 2017 by the

Girbau Group and Chinese laundry machinery manufacturer Shenguang. Girbau, which previously had a majority stake in the company, has taken complete control after purchasing the remaining shares from Qian Zhigen, president of the Shanghai Shenguang Machinery Group.

Qian remained as senior advisor until this month in order to provide the necessary support during the transition period.

General Manager Jeff Liang will serve as head of GSLT, reporting directly to Mercé Girbau, CEO of the Girbau Group, and Serge Joris, Girbau Group president.

USA TECHNOLOGIES NAMES FEENEY CEO

The Board of Directors for USA Technologies Inc. (USAT), a cashless payments and software services company that provides end-to-end technology for the self-service retail market, including Laundromats, has named Sean Feeney the company’s new chief executive officer.

Feeney served as CEO of GT Nexus, a cloud supply chain platform, tripling the company’s revenue and overseeing its sale to Infor in 2015. Most recently, he was CEO of DefenseStorm Inc., a cybersecurity management platform providing cloud-based and complianceautomated solutions to financial institutions.

Other career stops include having been an operating partner at Golden Gate Capital, interim CEO at Critigen, CEO at Inovis, and in senior management at CheckFree.

Feeney has a B.S. degree in engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point, and served as an Army officer for six years.

INVESTMENT FIRM ACQUIRES FAULTLESS BRANDS

Private investment firm Architect Equity, Los Angeles, reports it has acquired Faultless Brands, owners of Faultless, Niagara and Magic laundry products, Bon Ami and Kleen King cleaning products, and Trapp Fragrances. Terms were not announced.

Kansas City, Missouri-based Faultless Brands has been familyowned for over 130 years. It’s a collection of consumer products and brands encompassing fabric care, household cleaning, home fragrance and commercial laundry products.
