Aico launches City & Guilds Assured qualification
Aico has expanded its educational offering with the launch of its City & Guilds Assured qualification on Domestic Fire & Carbon Monoxide (CO) Alarm Systems.

To further support its customers, and assure that its products are installed to the highest standards. Aico says that it is proud to introduce its City & Guilds Assured qualification – a global quality benchmark that recognises excellence in training and learning.

The qualification is a continuation of Aico’s FIA CPD-accredited Expert Installer training, which provides installers with the essential knowledge to correctly install Aico fire and carbon monoxide alarm systems and environmental sensors.
To provide participants with a detailed understanding, this one-day course, AA2426-01, focuses on the design, installation, maintenance, interconnection, siting, and electrical connection of Aico domestic alarm systems. The qualification has a mixture of theory-based and practical sessions and concludes with a multiple-choice assessment, that must be successfully completed to earn the City & Guilds qualification.

Building Regulations, Fire
Construction Products, Carbon
Monoxide BS 50292, rented regulations, Fitness for Human
Habitation Act (Wales) and the
Tolerable Standard (Scotland) • System Design – grades and categories • Fire Risk Assessment • Sensor Types • Alarm Siting • Installation • Integration • Testing and Maintenance • Interconnection • Products and Technology

AA2426-01 officially launched on Friday 6 May, with the first session taking place at Aico’s Centre of Excellence in Oswestry and delivered by a member of its expert Technical Team.
Indre Meskauskaite, one of the Technical Advisors leading the training, comments, “Delivering this course is a great way to engage with our Expert Installers while sharing our knowledge and experience within the industry. We have built this day to be informative and interactive as much as possible, while keeping everyone up to date with the changing Standards, Legislations and products available.”
Out of all the attendees so far who have completed Aico’s online survey about the City & Guilds assured qualification, 100% said that they found the training useful and that they would recommend it to a colleague.
To be eligible for the City & Guilds Assured qualification, participants must have completed Aico’s Expert Installer training and be a member of the Aico Installer Community – a connected online platform built to support Expert Installers.
The free Expert Installer training scheme from Aico is designed to make sure electrical contractors have all the information they need to install domestic fire and carbon monoxide alarm systems. Providing effective protection through having the best alarms correctly installed, the FIA CPD accredited training allows individuals to earn one hour of CPD time. Modules include:
• Core Module – 60 minutes CPD • Siting • Sensor Types • Installation • AudioLINK+ • Testing and Maintenance • RadioLINK, RadioLINK+, SmartLINK • Integration • Standards and Regulations • SmartLINK Gateway and Portal
Once an Expert Installer, individuals will be invited to join the Aico Installer Community, of which there are already over 2,500 members.
The online community allows Expert Installers to connect with fellow professionals to share knowledge and best practice, learn new skills and continue Expert Installer training with an array of different modules available. Completing challenges allows installers to earn points that can be exchanged for rewards and there are monthly prize draws for members.
