TOGETHER FOR CINEMA

A BIG YEAR ALREADY

It has been a landmark year for the industry initiative that unites installers, manufacturers and distributors with those in need of cinemas and sensory rooms. However, ambitions are still high for the future, explains Together For Cinema Founder Ian Morrish.

We are really fortunate to have received incredible support from our industry colleagues already for Together For Cinema. As we entered a new, more proactive phase on a higher professional footing we asked the industry to back us, and we were not disappointed. We now enjoy the support of 48 sponsors from the industry, at the various different levels we offer. All of the details are on our website so whatever support you are able to provide, please feel free to do so and just contact us if you have any questions at all. We want to take this opportunity to sincerely thank all of our supporters, we have genuinely changed lives with this initiative and we want to continue doing so.

Other recent news includes the opening of two new cinema rooms, two further cinema room installations committed to and the completion of refurbishment of two more. ISE was very positive with over 25 hugely meetings completed. We also made it on to the BBC, with the Rainbows Children’s Hospice cinema room installation in Loughborough (installed by Gary Mills and his team at Decorum Technology), covered by BBC East Midlands. We always wanted to achieve as much media coverage as possible and hopefully this is just the start.

Summing up the first half of this year would not be complete without mentioning the stunning efforts of Chris Pinder from HDANYWHERE, who raised £46,560 by taking part in the Marathon des Sable. We know other supporters are planning challenges to support us as well, so more news on those when we get it.

PROJECT UPDATE

Of the seven projects we had planned for this year, those to be completed are: Andy’s at St Andrew’s Hospice, Grimsby. Installer: Ben Cook of Sonic Vision. Install date: June/July 2022. Julia’s House Children’s Hospice, Corfe Mullen, near Poole. Installer: Luke Crutcher of Living Home Tech. Install date: June/July 2022. Dougie Mac Children’s Hospice, Stoke-onTrent. Installer: Andy Bell of Trusted Technology. Install date: July 2022. Dorset Children’s Foundation Installer: Luke Crutcher of Living Home Tech. Install date: September 2022. St Oswald’s Children’s Hospice, Newcastle upon Tyne. Installer: Gary Chapman of Creative Install. Install date: October 2022.

As for 2023 we have a very busy year planned with seven installations under discussion. Installers have yet to be confirmed for these projects, so if you can help out, let us know.

The installs are: Claire House Children’s Hospice, Liverpool; Derian House Children’s Hospice, Chorley; Ellenor Hospice for Children and Adult, Gravesend; Hope House Children’s Hospices, Ty Gobaith. Resources for Autism, London; Richard House Children’s Hospice, London and Robin House Children’s Hospice, Ballach.

Along with installers to go with these projects obviously we need seven more projectors, screens, AVR’s, speaker packages, racks, control, lighting etc., so please do what you can to help and spread the word to those installers, manufacturers and distributors who also might be able to help.

We are grateful to so many of you who support the Together For Cinema cause but we need this help to be an annual commitment in order to keep making these very special cinema rooms happen.
