RIAA-certified Gold a cappella group Straight No Chaser, known for their holiday hits and reimagined classics, will bring their Top Shelf Tour to Old National Events Plaza on December 2, 2024. The group, formed at Indiana University, has become a holiday tradition for many families, touring each fall to share their love of the season. With over three million albums sold, more than a billion Pandora streams, and over 1.5 million concert tickets sold worldwide, they’ve become a staple of the holiday season. Band member Steve Morgan, an Evansville native, notes that their shows bring multiple generations together year after year, with fans saying it's not truly the holidays until they see Straight No Chaser live.

Sal Vulcano, best known for his improvisational comedy on Impractical Jokers, is a Staten Island native and founding member of The Tenderloins comedy troupe. Since 2011, The Tenderloins have brought laughs with their unique humor, and Jokers continues to entertain viewers with its hilarious pranks and slapstick antics. Beyond TV, Vulcano is a popular stand-up comedian, known for blending observational humor and personal stories. He’s also co-hosted podcasts like Hey Babe! and What Say You?. On his Everything is Fine Tour, Vulcano promises a night of side-splitting comedy that will leave audiences laughing from start to finish.

This powerful program features the music of two leading composers, Beethoven and Ravel. Ravel’s brilliant work, Piano Concerto in G, highlights the virtuosity of the soloist with elements of jazz that suggest the influence of George Gershwin. Guest artist Parker Van Ostrand makes his debut performance with the Evansville Philharmonic. The 20-year-old has continued to move rapidly to the forefront while at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. The second half of the concert brings Beethoven’s most celebrated work, Symphony No. 3, “Eroica.” This work embraces the heroic in every individual and is said to be Beethoven’s favorite symphony.

The concert will kick off with Maurice Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G, a piece that blends classical elegance with the lively energy of jazz. Written in the 1930s, Ravel’s concerto is a mix of playful rhythms and lush melodies. The first movement starts with an upbeat energy while the second movement takes a more relaxed, bluesy turn. The finale is a lively, fast-paced section that highlights the virtuosity of the soloist, filled with sparkling piano runs and intricate rhythms.

The featured soloist for this performance is 20-year-old pianist Parker Van Ostrand, who is making his debut with the Evansville Philharmonic. A rising star in the classical music world, Parker is currently studying at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where he’s learning from renowned pianists Garrick Ohlsson and Yoshikazu Nagai.
