"I'm a member of the Evansville Chamber [of Commerce] and they have offered me so much, reached out to me to help get me started," McHugh says with much gratitude. She's also received invaluable consultation from her former beauty school instructor who assisted in hand-picking the top-notch staff at B. Lanae Salon. Currently, the business employs four stylists, one barber, two estheticians, a massage therapist, micro-blader, injector, yoga instructor and a fitness guru - but McHugh imagines her

After 20 years in the beauty salon industry, Brittany McHugh had pretty much seen it all. Her vast experience in various capacities - both locally and in Georgia - gave the enterprising stylist the confidence to forge crew could well be doubled after things fully get up and running in the coming days and months. For her, the thought of stagnating is unacceptable. "It's just so easy to plateau in this industry," McHugh explains. "But there's so much you can do and learn - you've got to keep getting educated."

ahead with a vision for an all-encompassing operation on Evansville's north side that would offer a wide range of services and activities, from barbering to boxing and seemingly everything in between. She just needed the right location. So after scouting out the ideal spot for such an ambitious project, construction began on a brand new building next to the Evansville Teachers Federal Credit Union off of Highway 41 - right by Roca Bar North. That area, in particular, was in need of a high-end salon with a big city feel - but not big city prices; middle name, by the way; it just fits the vibe - the only way is up. In addition to all of the services and activities available, there's enough space to host events such as bridal showers and birthday parties; plus, there's a patio and a bar area (beer & wine will be available soon) and plenty of TVs. Best of all, the salon is open seven days a week so you can book appointments when it suits your schedule. Or just pop in and hang out. As McHugh neatly sums it up, "it's the kind of place where you can go and unwind."
