Since 1959, Atrium Health Foundation has been dedicated to meeting the broad healthcare needs of the community. As the administrator for all charitable contributions to Atrium Health in the greater Charlotte region, we collaborate with donors interested in supporting the work of our physicians, nurses, research scientists, educators, and other talented healthcare providers.

Atrium Health is one of the nation's leading healthcare organizations, providing a full spectrum of healthcare and wellness programs across the Carolinas and Georgia. In December 2022, Atrium Health became part of Advocate Health, now the third-largest nonprofit integrated health system in the nation Atrium Health’s diverse network of more than 900 care locations includes academic medical centers, hospitals, physician practices, surgical and rehabilitation centers, home health agencies, nursing homes, and hospice care.
Philanthropy has been the driving force behind Atrium Health, moving it forward as it has evolved from a community hospital in Charlotte in 1940, to one of the country’s largest health systems spanning multiple states. From 2010 to 2030, Atrium Health’s 14-county core market expects a population increase of 620,000. With that growth comes the opportunity for us to transform the health of our region.

When it comes to keeping communities healthy, Atrium Health’s reach extends beyond the walls of our hospital facilities and into the most vulnerable neighborhoods – areas that lack access to health services or fresh foods, and where chronic illnesses exceed the national average. It is here that we are bringing organizations and individuals together around a shared mission of community health.
With philanthropic support, we extend care to those most in need, emphasizing prevention and wellness across the community through mobile medicine, free screening programs, and community outreach efforts that address social determinants of health and promote healthy living – for all.
As part of our public, not-for-profit healthcare system, Atrium Health Foundation takes a leadership role in funding a variety of initiatives lead by Atrium Health. In 2023 alone, Atrium Health Foundation reinvested over $56 million back into Atrium Health programs.

• Providing health screenings for women in underserved communities, with the goal of improving women’s health and reducing infant mortality. In 2023 alone, our mobile units provided over 1,800 screenings for women.
• Bringing virtual primary and behavioral health care into schools through Meaningful Medicine, a program designed to reduce health care disparities. Last year, over 1,700 students received care at their schools, thanks to philanthropic support.
• Funding the latest clinical trials for cancer patients in the Carolinas.
• Wrapping our arms around those recovering from the violence of human trafficking.
• Guaranteeing that every child has a fighting chance to live their best life, thanks to funding from Children’s Miracle Network.
• Addressing cardiometabolic issues through in-home/virtual monitoring of thousands of cardiac patients in the Greater Charlotte area.
